I am too, I use it to keep in touch with family and friends mainly. It is a great way to keep up to date, sharing pictures, etc.
I also belong to a private Bruins group, met some of them at a game and they are great people who I wouldn't have known otherwise.

I get that but the idea is that the $55 million will have the subsidiary effect of stimulating the local economy after the disaster. The people who rail on about public money should never be used on sports stadiums and whatever are missing the point that in addition to 81 games a year they also host concerts and other shows that circulate money and create jobs. Owners shouldn't use the threat of relocation as a political football to extract extra money out of towns, but there is a return on investment.

The Rays could possibly get away with renting the Yankees' or Phillies' spring training facility for a couple seasons while awaiting their new stadium, but the rainy weather makes playing in an outdoor stadium difficult. It still feels like the only two options are to pay for the repairs to the Trop or play in another city for a couple years as a temp home. I think the league and organization would both prefer to stay in their home base and help the people there than to play in Montreal or Buffalo with no established foothold.

That's a fair point. I think it depends on what options are available to the Rays. Is there a viable stadium/facility they can use that is at least vaguely local, even if it requires some minor upgrading? If there is, I wouldn't spend on the Trop. But if that $55 mil is the only way to keep them around for the next 3 or so years, then yeah that money and the benefits it brings to the local economy and job market becomes much more worthwhile, even if it's spent on what in the end is a placeholder. They need to do a full assessment of all the options.

Bought my first color changing light bulb on a whim. Not sure how often I'll use the different colors, but thought I'd try it.

It's also the first light I'm setting up to come on automatically at sunset every day. Planning to get some more. I like some of the "smart home" features.

Now that I'm in a house I'm having Alexa remind me to drag the trash can to the street on trash night. I might be missing the "pick up your trash at the door" service from the apartment at the moment.

When I made the post I was going to say $55m for a stadium that's going to be torn down in 4 years when it's replaced (supposedly) sounds insane..then I thought of the above. If it helps give people jobs and puts money back into the local economy it's worth it. Plus, they'll probably recoup their investment quickly. $55M isn't much compared to the $1.3B for the new stadium. I hope the new one is engineered better. I went to some Sox games at the Trop about 20 years ago. The place was bland and boring at best.

Literally every study ever done says these publicly financed stadiums never come close to being worth it via all of those other things. Ever.

I drive an 11-year-old Chevy spark that I intend to keep as long as it's still running, though I just put $700 into replacing the ignition cylinder and have to replace the thermostat to pass a smog check by January, so I'm at the point where if I get another raise within the next six months I may look to upgrade, and have my eyes on a Model 3. If they run another 0% APR promotion around that time I might bite.

I’m a fan of Breville, but DeLonghi makes some good machines too. The Breville Barista line is pretty good. For me, ease of cleaning is the most important thing to consider. The easier it is to clean, the more they’ll use it.

I use a separate machine for brewed coffee, but both brands make all in one models. If you don’t have a lot of counter space, you might want to consider separate machines….or just drink a lot of Americanos. I hope that helps.

I have a sensitive nose in that I pick up scents really easily. Yesterday I smelled what I thought was a dead mouse or something potentially under the kitchen sink cabinet. I’m a strong, independent woman but not when it comes to things like rodents and reptiles so my husband looked at it when he came home.

Good news is no dead mouse! Bad news, there’s a hole in the pipe from the kitchen sink (think garbage disposal and dishwasher too) so there’s some water in the basement and the pipe is full of gross water and food which is causing the smell.

Thankfully we have several plumber friends who should be able to epoxy it which should work until we renovate our kitchen in a few years.

Homeownership sucks. Old New England houses suck extra hard.

i’m no expert but got a breville barista express for a wedding gift and use it every day. very easy to use and tastes great.

Twitter is crashing pretty quickly & Bluesky is gaining at a fast pace. Rumours are that Twitter will merge with Truth Social, so you really may want to get off Twitter very soon before it collapses. This doesn't show last 2 weeks which is the biggest exodus in Twitter history.

Depends on what they want, manual, semi-auto, auto, or super-auto. We will skip manual, because those don't even have a pump.

Semi-auto you have to tamp the beans and pull the shot yourself. Gives the greatest control, but a lot more work.

Auto grinds, you tamp, but just push a button to pull the shot. Both semi and auto can come with a manual frothing wand for milk drinks, which takes a while to learn.

Super-auto does it all at the touch of a button, including models that foam and dispense milk.

For an auto machine, the Breville Barista Pro is my choice, or the DeLonghi La Specialista Prestigio (I own a DeLonghi super-auto, they are built like a tank). The work/learning curve with both is a medium. Tamping and frothing take a little time to learn and are a little more work in the morning (Which is why I changed to a super-auto). But some people like that ritual.

For a super-auto, you are on the lower side of the budget for most brands, but the Phillips 4400 is a well reviewed machine that does milk drinks for around $999. You can also get the next model up, the 5500 for less than $1K on sale (Williams-Sonoma has it at $899 right now). Also, the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo is right at $999. Of the two brands, you will get more options with the Phillips, and better quality from the Delonghi, IMHO.

None of them make regular coffee, and in my experience, combo machines either make bad espresso, or bad coffee. I agree with the other poster that for regular coffee, another machine is needed (or drink Americanos).

One "hack" and old time electrician helped us with in our old ass house in Marblehead was to just add outlets instead of re-wiring. If you have room in your panel.

We added GCFCI to the Kitchen, under the windows for AC. Then just used the old outlets for lights. He said it safe because our current LED lightbulbs draw so much less than old lightbulbs. You can also replace an ungrounded 3 prong outlet with GFCI. Saved us thousands.
