You join the que to report the trade to the NHL. If you are stuck in the que with the Dallas trade you can still make another outside deal with Vancouver contingent on the Dallas assets happening and then join the que for that trade.
Dallas Trade --> Vancouver Trade
Sit on the phone que and make it happen.
Maybe you don't know how this works? You don't need the Dallas trade to be sent through to negotiate and setup a deal with Vancouver.
Allvin has said:Allvin made it seem like the offers were awful for Boeser, not sure I would consider KK and a 1st awful.
Definitely sounds like a last second "take it or leave it, and don't read the fine print" type of offers.
Boeser for a 1st - take it and run
Boeser for KK and a 1st -consider it for sure
Boeser + top prospect for KK and a 1st - ridiculous, like what is the goal of this trade?
Yet the Canes were still trying to trade KK. As he has proved he can play center but only mediocre at best.Trading KK now wouldn't have made sense, considering that Stankoven hasn't yet proven that he can play center in the NHL. With the Rantanen cap hit dealt, the Canes could've fit the Boeser contract at 50% retained. I wouldn't be shocked if the Canes offered one of Dallas's 1st round picks.
Unfortunately slotting Kotkaniemi in there only slightly makes it stronger. But not enough where you wouldn’t miss an opportunity to unload his contractIf this trade went through, the Canes centre depth going into the playoffs would've been:
Aho
Staal
Jankowski
Jost
Bruh.
What if he had offered a Klondike bar?if someone had just offered him a first for boeser as opposed to offering a first and demanding a prospect back worth more than the first, i'd expect his demeanour and talking point to have been very different. the prospects allvin namechecked as being asked for were willander, lekkermaki and d-elias petterson. a dallas first rounder is not getting any of those players back right now.
They only had 500k until the deal was officially done, which felt completely different that day. The deal was announced as cancelled halfway through the morning of the deadline before it became clear that had just hit a snag and they kept going at it - talking about the stars and the contract. Everything we heard that day and since indicates they had their hands tied because they couldn’t officially go after anything until the official word that the contract was done.Sounds like a Carolina is the only one to blame since the Rantanen deal was pretty much done when the TDL started. They had ample time to facilitate this other than 30 minutes until the TDL was over.
I assumed the market for Boeser was stronger than it apparently was and Carolina / Vancouver had worked out a conditional deal that fell through. Sounds like no one actually wanted Boeser cause of health concerns. Boeser not being moved was the biggest surprise of the deadine for me, seemed almost certain he was going and Vancouver lost out an asset because of the back and forth. Why? Apparently the deal didn't even get talked about until 30 minutes prior to the deadline ending, if Vancouver didn't take another offer before then based on something that is going to be a struggle to get worked out then that's on Vancouver.
Everyone in the playoffs is in the position to win it, and this year is as open as any year in recent memory. As a Canes fan I don’t expect it either but it’s obviously on the table as a possibility.Y’all aren’t in a position to win it this year, sorry to tell you
Always a bridesmaid, never the bridei feel bad for carolina. they are always in the mix but it just never seems to work out right.
Barring a massive implosion, we’ll have a ticket to the dance and a better chance than the 16 who miss.Y’all aren’t in a position to win it this year, sorry to tell you

According to Dhaliwal,
Canes made a last push to try and get Boeser from the Canucks.
Dhaliwal says the details are iffy but he thinks that the Canes offered a 1st round pick. He doesnt think its one for one. Some speculation is that the Canes wanted the Canucks to take Kotkaniemi along with the first and/or that Van had to attach a prospect with Boeser.
Regardless, Boeser a was big target for the Canes after they lost Rantanen but the deal fell through for Boeser. or as Tulsky put it, "we ran out of time"
Allvin has said:
And the rumours about this offer are:
- The offers for Boeser sucked
- Other teams were very interested in Lekkerimaki, Willander and D Petey, but the Nucks don't want to deal them
So I do think it's quite likely the offer was Boeser plus one of Lekkerimaki, Willander or D Petey for Kotka and a 1st, and Allvin turned it down. Personally, I would've turned that down too.
- The offer was Boeser + <prospect> for Kotka + 1st
- ... but the prospect was a big sticking point for the Nucks, and the main reason they declined
So according to this report the Canes wanted Vancouver to give up Boeser (a coming UFA) plus add a top prospect, while taking back the KK contract and a late first. Of course Van would say no to that. They’re better off keeping Boeser and their top prospect and having the added near 7 mil in cap come July 1.According to Dhaliwal,

That's more or less what Patrick Johnston's article said. In other words, Carolina wanted to clean up their mess by getting a good prospect alongside Boeser while dumping KK. It was an awful deal for Vancouver. Hence why Allvin declined. There's no reason we'd be giving up any one of those prospects in a Boeser trade.
I thought Hurricanes fans were mocking Benning when I heard that quote on their board lolI can't believe an NHL GM is using that phrase publicly post-Benning.
Better than what Carolina hasCarolina thinks Jesperi K has a lot of value, especially since the 2/3C for Vancouver is...?
