A typical broken bone, yes.

A broken bone in the hand for a professional athlete using his hands (not a football lineman)? That's a trickier recovery to full performance.

A broken bone in the hand that required pins? I'm stunned TT is even skating without a non-contact jersey already.
Honestly it really depends on what the break was. Supposedly this one particular break has a very quick recovery timeframe, which I heard about last week when I was initially given a heads up that he legitimately could be back this round.

Guess he's not out for the playoffs. Who could have seen that coming?

Exciting turn of events. I'd probably like to roll with the roster that played extremely well against the Devils. But as soon as we lose a game, maybe have him slide in to create a new spark. Gives TT a bit more healing time and lets the team that just beat the Devils in 5 games to keep going.

Even with TT struggling this year, he's a good player. Always defensively responsible and still positively impacts the game just about each and every night. So he will be a welcome addition back.

Just sitting here discussing it with my ortho colleague. He says if it's one of the three middle bones (which with a slash makes sense,) then the fracture has natural splints on either side, and the plates and screws are now designed to provide very tight fixation such that they can have early mobilization. Plus, presumably money is no object so I'm sure he got bone stimulator treatment and if there are any new wonderdrugs to speed healing I'm sure he got those too.

By game 1 he will be 4 weeks out from surgery so the soft tissue will be healed.

Plus unlike a knee or Achilles, if this repair fails, he just has surgery again and should still be fully recovered by the fall.

Did they specifically say it required pins though? I just read "surgery"; I bet they went with something like this:

Honestly, I'd sit him until we need a shake up. We eliminated the Devils in 5 with the roster we had. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it

I mean, the whole post was about how the break has already healed. To fix it now, would be pointless.

Common man...

Hopefully with a bigger turbo, intercooler upgrade, a tune, and a heavy duty clutch
Probably went with a cheap Ebay turbo kit. Same ol' Dundon....

You're asking a booger picker and a bone doc about your lung function????
Well. Actually the doc would've wanted me Holter monitored, but my employer's contract doesn't pay for it, so we're pretty much just blowing air to excuse her sending me to the public. In the circumstances, consulting some guys on a hockey board seemed appropriate.

Not gonna lie, I have mixed feelings about this. Turbo wasn't very good this season and now he's coming back with a maimed hand.

On the other hand, we are scraping by without top-6 talent but that can only get us so far.

I'm inclined to agree with BB above... I would keep him on the sidelines to rest up that hand until we hit a wall and look like we need a shakeup.
