Tsyplakov hit on Poehling - no penalty called

Barely grazed his shoulder and head was most definitely the main point of contact. Should get 3 games. We'll see what the Wheel of Justice lands on. The moron refs reviewing it and deeming it legal was laughable.

I wish I kept track of plays that were reviewed and downgraded or not penalized at all, but then resulted in supplemental discipline. This is the 4th or 5th such instance

Bullcrap predatory headshot. Your body doesn't spin like that with a hit through the chest.

The flyers response to it was pathetic.

Staple’s tweet man… “must have been some primary head contact in there as well”.

Guy still doesn’t see anything wrong with the hit, but is just deferring to the league because he has to.

The angle looking towards the net makes it looks slightly less bad in that he catches some shoulder. But I still don't think that qualifies as hitting "squarely through the opponent's body."

It was a hit with a bad angle of approach that was unlikely to have any good outcome.

Predatory? It's a backcheck. Every coach wants his team to take out the puck-carrier.
Right, just like the scheifele hit on Jake evans in the playoffs was clean as a whistle. Not to mention the puck was long gone. Completely unnecessary and predatory. Guys have an opportunity for that type of thing every game and always pass on it for a reason.

This is what i saw.

The only dangerous part of the hit was the speed. It was unfortunate hit. I dont see any reason for any supplemental discipline.

"there is a different play he could have made" "first of all the pucks gone"

It is amazing how much more time slow motion gives you to make those decisions, eh?
I mean, the slightest change in Poehling's speed could have caused principle point of contact to change in very short order. Not saying he shouldn't be penalized.....people get penalized for unintentional things all the time.

But sometimes shit happens and you don't mean it to and there is no time to correct.

I was ok with it. Saw him hit the shoulder first, didn't stick out his elbow, was in the course of play, puck left the stick a fraction of a second before (so wasn't late). Poehling was also bending down... it's not like the hitter jumped up at him to hit his head.

I could see a penalty just because the hit was so devastating. Fair hits are sometimes called just because they are effective.

Let's call it borderline. Blows my mind that this hit gets attention when they allow blatant, vicious cross checks to the back and head in post whistle(non hockey play) scrums all the time. Completely unnecessary, and shortens players careers.

As a Flyers fan. Boosh is a moron here. The puck literally just leaves his stick. They doubled down on the puck being gone later in the broadcast too

Looks like a shoulder to chest hit to me, with the hit happening a fraction of a second after the puck leaves Ryan's stick.

Poehling going down and spinning around like he was hit by a Mack truck makes this look a lot more dramatic.
