i dunno. i think there's a difference between being a great player and being great at contributing to winning.

for example, for the Rangers you mentioned, they may not be as talented as the guys on this list - they're not - but because they play in front of Shesterkin they play winning hockey

I mean, Cuylle is one of the top 5-on-5 point scorers in the league this year and Laf has only one fewer 5-on-5 point than Cuylle. Shesty didn't do that.

Honestly a pretty weak list overall. Imagine if we did that team NA under 23 team or whatever today. It would look garbage compared to the team we saw back in 2017.
I think Kucherov, while not on that team, was only 23 back then as well

I don't buy the clicks argument. Casual NHL fans are gonna catch wind of Boldy being ranked a few spots lower than consensus and be like "I gotta see this list!" This list is for people like us, who are gonna read it anyway because we like reading about prospects. A purposely bad list isn't bringing clicks either because people don't trust it; why would you waste your time reading a list you already think is horrible?

It makes more sense that ranking prospects/young players is a very inexact science and people have different opinions. HF has always had a problem dealing with lists that aren't consensus, despite the fact that no consensus list is ever accurate in the history of ranking prospects lol.

I can buy having Cowan on the list as a way to get clicks though, because you can put a headline like "Leafs prospect ranked in top 50" and get more Leafs fans clicking because they're the biggest fanbase. Beyond that it just seems like a line people repeat because everyone says it.

If Buium is so absurdly ranked that high, how is Yakemchuck not even on the list? Also Zellweger.
