On the latest insider trading Dreger opened up by saying that the Leafs are motivated to do something at this years deadline, and that the prospect pool is there and that teams like the Blues are paying attention, he specifically mentioned Minten, Cowan, Danford and Grebenkin.

That's why I disagreed when it was posted on here that the Leafs prospect pool was ranked 30th because you do have Cowan and Minten and Danford and Grebs.

And Grebs and Minten are VERY close to ready, they have already played games this year.

But near the end of the segment Lebrun said to keep an eye on Yanni Groude and the Leafs if they can't land Schenn or Laughton.

I understand Schenn being the #1 option, he should be the #1 option.

But I'd take Groude over Laughton any day because I'm 100X more comfortable with Groude at center then I am with Laughton.

I'd take Laughton on the team tomorrow but as a winger not as a center to me Groude is the CLEAR #2 option.

And he's likely going to be cheaper to get then Laughton

I hope the assessment at Maple Leafs HQ has prioritized one of those Cs that cost the least as the most desirable target. We're asset poor in picks and really only have a few prospects worth moving.

Don't think the team needs a rental Gourde at the cost of Minten or Cowan or Grebenkin or Danford. If you want a rental 3C then trade Holmberg or Jarnkrok or Kämpf and picks prospects, but not a 1st or top prospect.

I know Gourde is a very good 3C, but it's not a big enough need to justify a top prospect, especially as a pending UFA. Even if the value is "fair", it doesn't make sense for Toronto.

Yes it is a big enough need because currently Max Domi is the 3C and that doesn't work because wingers can't play center

Jets likely would be interested also

Jets weren't mentioned but I'd assume you are correct although I'd target Brock Nelson if I were them.

The cost for B Schenn will be through the roof. First + young roster player + top prospect and maybe even more.

The blues are 4 points out of the wildcard now. Blew out Seattle last night after beating Colorado soundly and taking a shootout loss to the Jets. Stl has, for the first time this season, gotten points in 4 straight.

Y’all messed up when you let binnington taste meaningful hockey.

Another week passes - if that continues its current trajectory, you may not see the Blues selling anything. That will raise the prices on everything else. The blues seem to have a lot on the market.

That's the thing as well as they have played they are still 4 points out of a wildcard spot.

They are sellers

We went through trauma being in last place in January before winning a cup. Once you’ve survived that, it becomes obvious that anything is possible.

That aside, I think Gourde makes sense for the leafs. Especially due to the value being dropped with the injury.

Laughton is not a good center. Any competent GM would know this to be true.

If I see Gourde in a Leafs jersey, I might puke

Nah you'd love it, imagine him lifting the cup with that Leaf on his chest you'd know how happy I was and that would make you happy.
