Terry also has a brain and leadership abilities to be very valuable to Anaheim.
As mentioned. It would likely have to be An overpayment

Came in here to say this, he could be the future captain.

What do you mean by 'Terry also has a brain'?
I think he means that Terry actually has good, analytical interviews rather than the same cookie cutter responses a lot of players have. He seems like he watches and dissects what's going right/wrong (with this team, mostly wrong). He points out specifics in his mid-game interviews rather than the "we need to work harder" responses most players give.

Yes.
You watch how he handles things, including interviews and he carries himself like a good “face if the franchise”.

Probably won't be the best player on the team much longer, but definitely can see him as one of the faces of the franchise. Zegras will definitely be the outspoken one and draw in more new/casual fans, but Terry will be the one that represents them. He's much more composed and gives a proper interview without being boring and cliché.

Terry Terry's age is the same difference from Zegras that anyone drafted in the 2023 draft and onward would be, so it's not a major outlier.

Yeah. Seriously. Terry is like 25, and "young" for his age in terms of NHL mileage. He's not some ancient guy who doesn't fit their core. He's really only a few years older than Zegras...and successful "rebuilds" tend to have a core that is at least somewhat age stratified.

These boards seem to view a rebuild as like, "collect all the players you can within a 2 year window and jettison everything else". When the reality is completely different. It takes time to rebuild, and players do have a wider useful window of contribution where you can have some different ages in your team and even benefit from having the team building a bit "phased" liked that so they're not all just "sink or swim" together at the same time.

Terry is actually at right about the ideal sort of age range to go really long-term with. A max contract would take him right through his top years and not too much further. Which is exactly why in reality, Terry and his agent will likely be pushing in a different direction. Looking for a way to split the remainder of his career to cash in better somewhere in his late 20s.

This makes absolutely no sense. The Ducks would not move Terry. Just give your head a shake

Absolutely hit the nail on the head. There is so much more nuance to it and there isn't a single one size fits all model. Cup winning teams have gone about it all sorts of ways

Fills an area of need for Anaheim tho.

Top 6 winger who can score goals and be a facilitator, and has a solid 2 way game. Well def hold onto him
