Trouba's value is very low right now, to get Hamilton they would have to add Ehlers or something of equal or higher value.

OK, now you go too far. You don't get Ehlers for Hamilton - straight up.

Why in the world would the Flames deal Hamilton for a holdout?

You could say the same for the Jets, why trade Trouba for an RHD when they need an LHD? The Jets will run into the same issue of Hamilton asking for a trade for the same reason.

what other incentive is there for us to take on a player with an attitude problem? What other demands is Trouba going to make during his career?

This is like saying E. Kane and Landeskog have the same trade value because there both offensive players in there mid 20's..

Trouba may be a #3 guy, while Hamilton is a #3 as of right now, he could easily become better(to both) but I think Hamilton will be better for the future, and yenno he hasn't asked for a trade, so his value is still high while Trouba asked for a trade so his value drops and he's holding out, no idea what he wants in a contract, Hamilton keeps getting better, he had an awfully bad beginning of the season and still sets a career high in points, the add would be at least Ehlers, I would want Laine and Trouba for Hamilton + 2nd

I'd quit now before you make yourself look even sillier. Attitude problem? In what world does asking for a trade mean you have an attitude problem or somehow equate to being a problem like Evander Kane?

Holy ****, I thought the other post was bad. Laine and Trouba for Hamilton and a 2nd? This is a joke right?

I don't think Columbus does that. Werenski is still on ELC so he's expansion protected isn't he? I think his ceiling is top pairing as well, hard to say whether they do that.

His ceiling is a 3 D, he's not a top pairing guy let alone with Jones and Murray in his way.

Zero NHL games. How do you you know his ceiling isn't an AHL mainstay?

Classic HF board.

So that's what Mathews ceiling is too because he has Kadri and Bozak ahead of him?

Not sure you understand what ceiling means. Werenski has #1 upside.

Ceiling is the end of actual development. Ie Yak's ceiling seems to be 3rd line winger. Nobody knows the ceiling until the kid stops developing.

You guys are just guessing potentials what it might be.

fools to lock him up for 5 years?

Yes. Other than the bizarre Tyson Barrie situation when do teams buy only one UFA year from star RFAs?

You could say the same for the Jets, why trade Trouba for an RHD when they need an LHD? The Jets will run into the same issue of Hamilton asking for a trade for the same reason.

Two things:

The Jets do need LD more than RD at this point, but their real need--the one that Trouba was the only player filling--is young, high end D. Left handed, right handed, ambidextrous, tentacled--doesn't matter. The Jets are short in top defencemen who will be in their primes concurrently with Scheifele, Ehlers, Hellebuyck, Connor, and Laine.

Secondly, players don't ask out for ******** reasons like the team is too good on a certain side. Especially when that player plays both sides. I don't know a single Jets fan or even a member of the media, local or national, who's buying that story.

Trouba wants out because he doesn't want to be in the smallest market in the NHL.

Ceiling is the end of actual development. Ie Yak's ceiling seems to be 3rd line winger. Nobody knows the ceiling until the kid stops developing.

No. In this context "ceiling" refers to potential top end--barring unforeseen developments.
