Hit is clean, but it's another example showing an unneeded hit where Trouba's goal is to put another player on a stretcher. I'm just shocked he's the captain, because how can you respect someone like that?

Being good at hitting does not mean he wants to hurt people.

Bending over and reaching for a puck in the skates of the leagues biggest hitter who was trying to line him up.

There might've been head contact but him bending over and reaching for the puck was a big reason why there was. he changed his course.

Trouba has his skates on the ice, elbow tucked and makes solid contact through his opponents body. That makes the incidental head contact legal.

Open ice hitting will eventually be banned from the NHL, but we are not there yet.

Principle contact is the head but only because Barron is lowered, Troubas shoulder/body went straight through Barrons body…if Barron not lowered its shoulder to sternum

It's a clean hit if the hittee changes his head position at the last moment. Which is what happens here, when Barron tries to cut to the middle. Trouba comes at it as cleanly as he can. He's facing the body. He's not picking the head.

It's a legal hit. And I say that as someone who is not a Rangers fan and thinks Trouba throws a lot of dirty elbows.
