Everything that's wrong with the NHL in one short clip.

1- Hit to the head in a meaningless game by a repeated offender, player is obviously concussed

2- Some "fans" blame the victim for lowering his head (you know that something's wrong in a culture when lowering your head is seen as worse than trying to kill someone)

3- Unsurprisingly, no penalty on the play

4- Matheson talks to Trouba

5- Trouba drops the globes FIRST

6- A fight erupts

7- Matheson gets the instigator penalty and is thrown out of the game

What a joke.

Barron really thought “There’s Jacob Trouba, better stare at the puck and also crouch” lmfao

Ban him for hitting too hard

WHAT A HIT!!!! Justin Barron got destroyed. Lowered his body for some reason and took the hit in his head. No penalty on the play but will no doubt cause an uproar.

Waiting for video…

The Habs player is skating up the ice super slow with his head down. What the heck is Trouba, or any competent nhl player, supposed to do? That was a good clean hit. Keep your head up! This is the national league!!!

If there is a "worst take of all time", this is a prime contender TBH. But I guess this is more bait than a serious take.

I'm not sure what Barron is expecting to happen here...

Bending over and reaching for a puck in the skates of the leagues biggest hitter who was trying to line him up.

There might've been head contact but him bending over and reaching for the puck was a big reason why there was. he changed his course.

you hope he's not too hurt but it's just awful awareness on his part.

It's a clean hit by the book. And at some point maybe people have to start bitching about the book, instead of players playing by it...

Open ice hitting will eventually be banned from the NHL, but we are not there yet.
When will people get it to their heads that whenever the head is the main point of contact it is never a clean hit

My guy, there's 100's of play like that a game that a player doesn't have his head f***ing rung by a shoulder.

I would like to see the exact writing of the rules and see more video angles on that.

It's a clean hit if the hittee changes his head position at the last moment. Which is what happens here, when Barron tries to cut to the middle. Trouba comes at it as cleanly as he can. He's facing the body. He's not picking the head.
