No if anything Pittsburgh adds 1 or 2 first round picks if they want to get rid of that contract.

I think the value 1:1 would be acceptable enough as a trade.

With Georgiev, I just don't think he's that great of a goalie. I think he's been a backup level goalie his entire career with good spurts here and there. Hell, Casey Desmith could have done what Georgiev has done, quite frankly.

With Jarry, as much as I will say that he currently stinks and I want him gone, I don't think it's an ability issue. He has shown he's capable of much better play and I would venture the guess that if you put the Avs team in front of him, you would see him return to form.

I think the extra term he has compensates for the discrepancy in ability. I could also see something like Jarry+2026 2nd for Georgiev+2026 4th/3rd. Something that gives a slight bump.
Jarry is untradeable until he shows hes an NHL goalie again.

.836 this year in 2 games. He needs to come back up and play games well and have a solid year to get to position where the Pens dont need to attached multiple picks to dump him.

He needs to come back up from the AHL and put a season of .905 or so goaltending and then a trade in the summer may work where he goes for a 1 year cap dump to a team willing to take gamble on his 3 year term deal.

Oilers for example potentially could be interest in Jarry retained down to 5M this summer if he has a bounce back year with .905+ sv% at YE and they look to move a Skinner other piece deal for him if Skinner doesnt do good on the year/in playoffs

I think it's most likely that the Penguins will just have to buy out Jarry. His buyout is ugly in the last 2 years of the deal, with them not getting much savings due to how much money is in signing bonuses in the last 2 years (another WTF on this deal from Dubas). But the team stinks and will be rebuilding at that point anyway, so who really cares?

If they buy him out this year, they'll get $3.5 million in cap savings for next year, minimal cap savings for the next 2 years and an $800k cap penalty for the 3 years after it. If they buy him out after next year, they'll get about $1 million in cap savings for 2 years and $500k in cap penalties for 2 years.

As not great as he is at the moment, I think the goalie market is bad enough to where if a team gets desperate enough, they'll take a chance. Avs, Detroit, Montreal...all possibilities.

The cap relief is only for the first season ($1,747,222), then for the next 2 seasons the buyout cap is actually higher ($5,047,222 & $4,547,222) then bury him to the AHL (3 x $4,225,000) plus the 3 seasons of dead cap ($797,222), so it doesn't make sense to buy him out, just let him rot in the AHL and call him up when needed, maybe he'll get better and be tradeable in the future.

Montreal isn’t taking that on. That’s a buyout waiting to happen.
