No, ridiculous. Georgiev is awful but his cap hit is 3.4 million and he's a UFA this year. Jarry is on 5.375 million until 2028. Terrible contract, and the Avs can't afford boat anchor contracts given how bad the cap situation is.

Both goalies need a change of scenery. Avs may need to add a pick.

???????? Why do the AVS need to add shit? Their guy is on less money and his contract is up. Jarry is signed for 5.75 for 3 seasons after this one. Pens are adding alot. Everytime there is talk of oiler moving a 5 to 6 mill contract--the sugar is usually a 1st per extra year

Why not put Georgiev on waivers and then trade him and a first to a team for futures?

Avs come out way ahead.
Unless I'm missing something, "a first" is the futures. How are they coming out ahead?

Also, no way half a year left on an expiring 3 mil contract for a somewhat serviceable player costs 1st to get rid off. That's just crazy talk. Unless, again, I misunderstood what you are saying.

Pens are not getting rid of Jarry for any expiring contract unless we attach a 1st.

Our 1st this year is going to be worth a lot more than Jarry's deal.

He likely rebounds to 15-20th best goalie on another team that has defenders in front of him.

That said, dude needs to go.

The Avs 2025 1st belongs to Philadelphia, and it has top 10 protection so could end up deferred to 2026 (however unlikely) so they can't trade that 2026 pick until the off-season... unless they could trade the 2027 1st with the condition that it becomes the 2026 1st if/when the 2026 pick is allowed to be traded again. Point being any trades involving an Avs 1st right now seem quite unrealistic.

The Penguins would be adding a good bit due to the term left on Jarry’s deal. And even then I don’t know why the Avs would go for it.

The only way Jarry gets moved is if he plays decently well for a stretch and some bad team takes him on as reclamation project while getting paid to do so.

There’s no reason the Avs make this deal. Jarry is untouchable right now because of the term. The Avs would be much better off taking a chance on someone who also only has this year left. Someone like Husso, with Georgiev going the other way.

That way they’re only right back where they were without adding term.

Just don’t get these teams who waste years of a Cup window, chasing a goaltender. It’s one thing if you have someone who knows his place and accepts term for stability.

Georgiev is unlikely to be moved and Jarry is likely the worst possible trade option.

Annunen is playing extremely well after a few games. AVs still need a backup and they also have Kahkonen; both having expiring contracts after this season. They also drafted their goalie of the future Nabokov.

I think the value 1:1 would be acceptable enough as a trade.

With Georgiev, I just don't think he's that great of a goalie. I think he's been a backup level goalie his entire career with good spurts here and there. Hell, Casey Desmith could have done what Georgiev has done, quite frankly.

With Jarry, as much as I will say that he currently stinks and I want him gone, I don't think it's an ability issue. He has shown he's capable of much better play and I would venture the guess that if you put the Avs team in front of him, you would see him return to form.

I think the extra term he has compensates for the discrepancy in ability. I could also see something like Jarry+2026 2nd for Georgiev+2026 4th/3rd. Something that gives a slight bump.

The only good thing about Georgiev is that his contract is <$3.5m and expiring. Spending more money for longer on another struggling goalie is exactly what we’ve been trying to avoid for years now.

If Georgiev gets traded, it’s for another guy on an expiring deal at similar cap hit where both sides are hoping a change of scenery will wake them up. Otherwise, he can just collect his paychecks from the bench.

Jarry is untradeable until he gets back into the show from his conditioning assignment and shows improvement. Table this till then.
