Yeah I’m torn - on one hand Friedman is obviously pretty plugged in overall but on the other when your job is to say one thing about each team at the deadline of course the narrative is going to drift to zegras and Gibson because that’s just what people talk about when they talk about our franchise right now

I’ve listened and read his stuff. He’s very clear when he’s speculating. But you wouldn’t know it reading all the misstatements posted on HF.

Sometimes it's a case of Person A posting about it, saying it's speculation, then Person B comments it somewhere without the speculation, then it spreads on and on etc.

The team is noticeably better when Zegras is playing. If we trade him (and I really don't think we should) then it should only be for a player who makes the team noticeably better when they're on the ice now. Not in 2-3 years... Now.

Stop trying to trade Zegras. I'm always the guy that wants to get rid of our players, but this guy is a keeper. He may not be the BEST player on the team or have captain material, but he is the x factor that wins the games.

Zegras fan here. Unabashedly so. Just hope we didnt coach the creativity out of him. I miss the arrogant/fancy showman stuff from covid era zegras. That being said now he really does stabilize team when he is around. He doesnt strand his dmen who need an outlet on the half boards exiting the zone etc.

And why, when Anaheim is clearly a better team when he is on the ice, would Verbeek allegedly be so likely and antsy to deal him away?

It's a legit concern. Creativity has gone down drastically for Z

That my biggest issue right now. It is so easy for Beeker to come out and say "Rumors are bullshit" and yet, hasnt happened. I mean, its possible Beeker has had a convo with Zegras behind closed doors and said "hey, dont worry about the rumors, youre staying" and maybe its a way of the front office staying secretive and messing with the insiders, but I have to imagine it weighs on a player. Just seems odd.

I dont think its a concern. I think its simply an approach. Zegras and Leo have been THAT guy their entire playing careers and only had to worry about that part of their games. Now they are being coached to be more well rounded, so the players are focusing on the their weaknesses. You dont lose 10-15 years of creativity and offensive mindset in a coupe of years of focusing on the other parts of your game. At least, thats the theory.

An awful lot of MB posts are started by somebody who totally misinterpreted what they heard and turned into something it isn't. And it isn't just the ones about Z, it's people who clearly struggle with understanding what they just heard or read and have to rush to post about it.

It also happens here at times.

These so called insiders really have little to talk about if they aren't speculating. And while that may be annoyingly understandable, they should be very clear when they do speculate and people should make sure what they really heard before they rush to post something they didn't hear.
