Forget everyone else on the team, simple question: do you think Freddy has played up to expectations this year? Would you re-sign him if he wants more than $3 mil? It's possible to think multiple people need to improve.

I know this wasn't directed at me but I'll answer: No. Frederic can't decide whether he's a goal scorer or a shit stirrer this season so he does neither. Indecisiveness is killing his game IMO. If he keeps this up I wouldn't re-sign him.

Probably ought to wait and see how the rest of the season goes, yeah? I don't want to give him Dakota Joshua money and term if what he's doing this season is his new normal.
Dakota Joshua 28 years old and over the last 3 years 29g 28a 57pts
Trent Frederic 26 years old and over the last 3 years 38g 41a 79pts

Some team will pay him, don't think it's going to be Boston but who knows.

Frederic hasn't been a shit stirrer since his rookie year. He made his decision long ago.

I've been a supporter of his because I think he can be a useful player even without that element, and he has been, 17 goals in '23, 18 goals in '24. But I'm also not interested in paying a premium for him as a UFA because of a perceived toughness factor that really hasn't been there in years.

just trying to see things from an opposing side, he`s supposedly a physical player who doesn`t bring physicality enough, a tough player who rarely drops the mitts and this year, a very limited offensive contributor.
Good to try and see both sides, I just not jumping to just get him out of town, unless it really benefits this team. I am not saying you are one of them that just wants him out here, with no thought on who or what they getting in return. I do think being a soon to be free agent, that some thinking be started on what this decision this team might need to make with regards to Freddys future.

Koepke and Kastelic each assisted on Coyle's goals last game and neither involved Frederic. Sacco should try those two on Coyle's wings. Maybe Frederic can get some reps at #4C.

No doubt, and if he gets his game back, he can be a useful player, but not at a premium because we know what he is, but the perception around the league it seems is that he a 'tough' heavy player and that will get him paid.

It only takes one GM to buy in for him to get paid. With Zadorov and Kastellic aboard his physical game isn't as needed here as it was, but you got to think the combination of even strength production, decent defense, NHL experience and a willingness drop em to defend teammates would be worth good $ to some team out there. They might even see some untapped offensive upside if given more minutes and opportunities than he saw here. Just takes one GM and or a team in need.

Not scoring happens. Crap luck sometimes. Not being physical at all is an effort issue. It’s been an effort issue all year. Also noticed that he was a big tough guy twice in the MTL game once the ref was in between. Guy won’t even drop gloves anymore. Totally useless player.

Can’t believe Fredrick can’t crack the PK.
Perfect role for him and keeps him from sitting through PP and Pk’s
I you have got me thinking, just maybe Freddy has been just discarded, not fitting in, now not saying he is playing well, but up until a half a dozen games or so nobody has. Maybe try and get him more involved actually elevate his responsibility, like you said PK, PP, whatever. I have always said he should play center, that is where he was drafted as. I say try something, before you move on from a 26-year-old that you cultivated and some other team reaps the rewards. Maybe it does not work, but in my opinion it could be worth a shot.

I supported him when people here were so down on him that they'd have gave him away for free on waivers. He closed in on 20 goals last year, so now I'm down a victory lap, right?

Nah.

Now I'm the one who has turned on him and needs to be talked out of moving him for nothing. He's looking scared to engage since Tanner 1-punched him and it has hurt his play.

Hopefully Kastelic being the topdog on his line let's him play tough again.

I'm a Freddy fan too, but at this point I'm just being realistic, and while Coyle has been shit that isn't relevant to me, because the problem with Freddy is there are too many games he is just a passenger.

When you're on the 3rd line you don't have the luxury of not showing up and working hard any night. He can learn a lot from the effort Koepke and Kastelic have given this year. I had high hopes he could fill the spot that Brazzeau has taken on line 2 this year, but unfortunately he just hasn't been good enough for that.

Of course they should be, my point being when Pasta has a 3 point game you can kind of live with him not being on the rest of his game, 3rd line guys don't have that luxury because their production as isn't good, so the bare minimum for them is to work their ass off each night

I’d give him 2x3.75
I don't mind that, or sign him a bit longer for a bit less money, like MarchysNose suggested at 5×3 mil.

Theyre going to have to think real hard about bringing him back.
He’s never played up to his potential IMO.

Where he is going to be a UFA and not a RFA that typically brings more. A team with deep pockets and willing to hope on that potential will probably offer 4 x 4 at least.

When we start getting into the 4s I definitely hesitate a bit more to keep him

I wish Freddy would lose the "shit stirrer" bit. He absolutely sucks at it. Absolutely zero impact.

He needs to skate hard all the time, lay the body, and go to the net.

Pretty f***ing simple Freddy -- certainly not rocket science.

Not so sure about the potential - this year has been a shit show across the roster.

Last year he put up 18g 24a 42pts and dropped the gloves 7 times.

Not sure what kind of potential he has in his role 20g 30a 50pts?

I guess a big question with him is can Koepke or someone else through UFA or Prov replace his production for much cheaper? The answer is probably yes I'd say.
