This last good stretch, and the poor stretch before it, has the feel of "show me a good coach, and I'll show you a great goalie" to it.

Ullmark has changed the narrative around the team, but Green had them playing well even when the wins weren't coming. We were underperforming before, and overperforming now, both situations likely had a lot to do with the goaltending.

That said, we are playing with more confidence, which means we aren't folding when something goes wrong. Hopefully that's a sign of the team maturing, and not just riding a high wave.

Also coincide with 7-9-19 being out together.

I think we started the season as a cohesive group, they lost a couple and Brady and a few players went rogue outside the system (it was chaos here for a few weeks the Sens were floating trading Norris at this time and the Brady stuff was in full swing) and I think Green got the players recommitted to the system and we see now a group that is always in formation and surrounding the puck and their passing is like it was the first 5 games of the season.

Brady looks way calmer after loses as well, I think Green got through to him and have leveled his head a bit, he’s not only playing within the system his post and pre game comments are more level and focused

And with all that, Ullmark has recent better stats then he ever did in Boston because Ottawa plays a better system then Boston does so I think the goalie and system coincided at the same time

I love the overall attitude Green exudes in post game and media interviews and sound bites this season vs previous. Green gets credit for setting the tone. Staios same, from the top down. Ullmark too, and it’s contagious in the room.

Stoic, expressing focus on a bigger plan and picture. Everything is calmer, steadier coming from the team and org, whether it’s on an upswing like now, or in a down spiral like a month ago.

Seeing how these aspects are handled now makes the retrospective view of the last regime that much worse. Braying donkey and meathead rolling for f***in bounces n pizza.

What a time to be a sens fan.

I don't think Green is a top coach in the league or anything like that, but it's night and day how much better he has this team playing than DJ. Really goes to show how terrible of a coach DJ was, a total budget hire.

Just about all of the advanced stats point to exactly what we see on the ice and for our record - Travis Green's Senators are an above average team in all areas. There is structure, expectations, and a standard thats been set in a short amount of time with the team.

Again you have at least be starting to believe that our management team might actually have perfectly identified Green as being the right coach for this team, if you arent already convinced. If Jensen and Ulmark werent proof enough that they know what their doing out there, then Id hope that the fact that the Senators are playing 1000% better defensively under Green surely will warm the heart of the coldest doubters.

Why don’t you think he’s not one of the better coaches in the NHL?

He’s turned around this this 7 year gong show in 20 games.

Idk. Our goaltending was so bad that we never had a chance to be good. We're looking great with Ullmark in the net in part because of how calm he is. He handles the puck well and he gets whistles. Whistles are great. You get to reset. You're not chasing. You're not getting tired. Literally every other goalie was a nightmare contributing to the running around in our end. Goalies contribute to good defensive play. Unfortunately ours have all been of the tank commander variety

I've been pretty happy with Green and his staff so far.

The underlying numbers look good,
The bad turnovers have been limited
The PP has been strong
The PK is showing signs of improvement

It's been a good start to his tenure, still too early to draw strong conclusions about how good a coach he is, but so far so good.

I do wonder how different DJ Smith's reputation would be with Ullmark in net though. Good goaltending goes a long way.
