Shuffle up the lines again. We need to try some new things in that bottom 6. I think spreading the wealth between the middle six would help. G has had great chemistry with both Pinto and Greig in the past. Let’s see if he can spark them.

Ostapchuk on line two is just to get a hard working north south guy with wheels to work for the other two whose physical engagement is inconsistent.

Fourth line is simple, wouldn’t be against sitting Amadio for Rhino to send a message.

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Gaudette
Ostapchuk-Norris-Batherson
Greig-Pinto-Giroux
Cousins-Gregor-Amadio

On D the best pair this year has been Chabot-Jensen. Get that back together.

Then get Hamonic away from Sanderson. JBD hasn’t grabbed the bull by the horns but I’ve seen enough of 85-23 to know I want to try something else.

If Kleven doesn’t have a good physical game against Detroit give him a chance to watch a game from the press box and give Sebrango a shot at home against Nashville.

I like all of this, agreed. I’ve been thinking they should throw Ostapchuk with Norris and Batherson, I think they might fit nicely.

Chabot and Jensen were back together last night btw.

Seeing Rick Tocchet bragging about how detailed and committed his players are, and you just close the feed and stare blankly

He was interested in the job too as was Julien

It was definitely a money decision
I think if it was a money decision it came from the logic of not wanting to spend a large amount of money on a coach when they felt like the roster might need to be tweaked with.

You don't build a roster around a coach, you hire the right coach for your group of players, and when that group of players isn't really solidified, then it makes sense to go with a guy who is cheaper, expendable, but still able to teach some key players new lessons that they could take moving forward.

I think it's more that they felt Green is an intelligent, defensive-minded coach who felt like he has something to prove, and therefore be a good match for this roster who they were hoping also felt like they had something to prove this year, and also need to learn how to defend better.

Aren’t the top two lines finally looking good?
Leave that alone. F with the bottom if you want but let’s stick with what works and start building something consistent.

Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Giroux-Stutzle-Gaudette

I missed most of the Ducks game but I thought Norris and G have been largely invisible lately.

Either way we need far more from Pinto and need to get him going.

Can’t do that rehashing all the lower calibre options in the bottom six IMO.

Norris had a very good game. Defensively especially. They’ve all been playing well since together.

Yes pinto needs a boost. But don’t sacrifice progress for it. That’s Dorion method.

Greig/Gregor-Pinto-Amadio/Cousins can figure it out.

Norris is one of the guys you don’t really notice unless he’s on the score sheet. Reminds me of Bobby Ryan in that sense. Guys you pay 8m you’d like to have an impact in more dimensions. One of our biggest problems is we have a lot of forwards like that.

I’d argue that having very good games and playing well but not producing or getting results is the Dorion method.

We need points yesterday, both in the standings and in terms of production. We can’t treat our multimillion dollar top 9 forwards like rookies on an ELC and hope for development.

He’s right there are players who have enough skill to control a game. Sanderson is not one of them right now

He was controlling the game early in the season, not as much after about 5 games in,

Here's an interesting stat about him this year;

Among the 192 D with 200 plus mins 5v5
Sanderson has the 4th worst PDO (on ice sv% + on ice sh%)

At 5 v5 he was still lacking. Him and sub as a pairing can do some. Very very nice work. But Sanderson isn’t taking over shifts in the offensive zone.

So many individual and team stats completely pointed in the wrong direction.

Well, PDO is know as the "Luck" stat since it typically has very little to do with an individual skater's level of play. A good chunk of it is our goalies struggling, but I do find the on ice sh% odd, since the chances are there when he's on the ice.

We need another NHL level RH D on this roster.

Entire right side needs major work, need a RW for the top line and even the depth lines. Amadio, Perron, Jensen, Gaudette are all right shots and part of the heavy lifting SS did this summer but the right side of the entire lineup still needs lots of help.
