How about if he is wrong he just disappearsIf you're right, you can come here and gloat. But if you're not, are you going to come an admit you were wrong?

Jacques MartinHas this instance ever happened where a head coach comes back as an assistant for the same team?
Spezza. He'll be a GM in a couple years.Spezza for A/coach of PP. Who sez no?
Big Rig or Redden or Donovan for A/coach of D. Who sez no?
Every coach says that when they are hired and are striving to establish a winning culture.Nobody has said that Travis Green said in his press conference his goal is to win a Cup with this team and be a winner.
The one thing I love about this hire is that Stois, Poulin and Green all played the game with high integrity and were playoff guys and they all still have a burning desire to win the Cup and etch their names in history.
We as fans talking about Bruce Boudreau time in Washington and Vancouver and Travis Green is talking about Stanley Cups parading down Elgin
Surprised nobody mentioned it because that should be the baseline for the team and not what the damaged people of New Jersey think or interpreting the obsessive mental illness of Canucks fans.
Ottawa now has a culture of creating winners - not chasing after them and that should be talked about more
Well, looking at the bright side then, I guess Green will get fired pretty quickly, and at least we will able to look forward to another high draft choice after another bad season.Coaching players today is not like coaching players in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Old school coaches have an even more limited shelf life than before.
There's a fine line between instilling a work ethic and making the sport so miserable that players want to leave.
I'm not sure if I trust Travis Green in terms of maintaining that balance.
Yes, it's apparent from Drance that the issues in Vancouver were the GMs fault, or the fans' fault, or the assistant coach's fault, or the schedule's fault, or COVID's fault, or the issue of injuries, or the players' fault, but not Travis Green's fault.
Meanwhile, the development of Vancouver's players is a credit to Green, the record under Boudreau was a credit to Green, until the team started losing again at which point it was Boudreau's fault.
I think it stretches the boundaries of credibility.
Every coach says that when they are hired and are striving to establish a winning culture.
It's hard to talk about it until they actually take major steps to achieve it!
Action speaks louder than words as they say. Simple but true!
Let the misery begin. Depressive outlook.Well, looking at the bright side then, I guess Green will get fired pretty quickly, and at least we will able to look forward to another high draft choice after another bad season.
Will Andlauer need to get rid of Staois for making bad decisions and general incompetence then? The other related questions is how long before this will happen, and will Andlauer be able to get rid of his buddy?
I try to stay positive. Let’s see how things work out. There is no preordained outlook or outcome.Let the misery begin. Depressive outlook.
I am positive about it too., Have to see how it works out.. for sure. I am happy to give him a chance . I think he could be a really good fit.I try to stay positive. Let’s see how things work out. There is no preordained outlook or outcome.
I do wonder how folks see the future then if they see this as a bad hire?
They are going to have to commit to playing a strong team D to be successful, that is for sure. Let’s hope it happens.I am positive about it too., Have to see how it works out.. for sure. I am happy to give him a chance . I think he could be a really good fit.
Checks many of the right boxes for me... He will bring a lot of what JM was teaching. Yah its a departure from the no accountability environment with a buddy bud coach a couple of our star players pined for as JM was trying to instill some disciplined play but I think they need more more of what JM was bringing and not less. Communication is a key and buy in is key. Green is supposed to be a good communicator. The buy in is up to the players and especially important for the leaders., Having won absolutely nothing and having played a brand of hockey that would not bring success when things tighten up in a country club atmosphere if it takes someone that is a little more rigid to bring this team a different mindset and a way of playing that will get them into the playoffs with a chance of success I am all for it, Remember when Boucher came in how he stressed and applauded how important buy in was from the leadership. I am sure there could be some feelings that get hurt with some tough love but I also think the messaging will be clear to follow.

Bit of a tangent, but York was saying on coming that he played for Bowman and he ran the worst practices of any coach he played for,I dunno. Wayne Gretzky was the greatest player of all time and had a ton of Cups, but was a terrible coach. Scotty Bowman stopped playing at a young age and is largely regarded as the best coach in history.
While I do have hope this team will turn it around - and they're young enough they should do just that, I'm also not planning out the parade route down Elgin for a good while.
We don't have a "culture" of anything....yet.
During my my time of watching from afar and not as a Canucks fan I seen Travis Green as an Xand O's type of guy. He also looked pissed off 99% of the time. I don't think he's going to be anybody's buddy. However, I think he can relate to these guys and tell some stories and stuff like that. But he going to keep his distance because he's not looking for friends. He's looking for wins. I can see him being a hard ass. This guy is going to bagskate the players when they screw around. The country club is now closed. Time for guys like Timmy to grow up and stop whining and bring in some more vets and tune this locker room into a culture of guys that are hungry for wins. They all got their fat paychecks and now it's time for them to start paying the price for it. I don't doubt that there will be guys who hate Travis and he gets under their skin just like he did as a player. Some players are going to call him toxic because well it's their toxic mediocre play that has been accepted for too long. These guys are used to soft teddy bear DJ Smith, he was like a Peewee coach making sure your skates were tied on right. Green kind of reminds me of a more mellow Torts. I don't think we're going to get a whole bunch of great comments and communication from him for the media. There's only so much you can say before it becomes repetitious. Anyways. It was tiring. To DJ make his excuses. Far as I'm concerned, you could really cancel that Post game interviews. I see the personality in green that he is a total accountability guy. He looks demanding and he looks like he will not put up with any BS. When he was in Vancouver and the team was mailing it in on him. He look like he could literally choke every one of them.I am positive about it too., Have to see how it works out.. for sure. I am happy to give him a chance . I think he could be a really good fit.

I must admit I wanted the big name coach too Berube but we got to do things our way and put our own stamp on our team. I'm going to give my full support behind Green, He looks like a guy who is all about the details and getting the job done and accountability. In my books that's what this team needs. Besides a real goaltender. Go Green!
