My guess is Vancouver could not attract decent low salary FAs in the off season.

Pretty good depth option. Kind of an AHL/NHL tweener but has spurts of pretty solid offensive production.Hey I am here again! This time with asking for a Scouting Report on Travis Boyd.
What can you faithful tell us about him?
Our bottom 6 is probably the worst in the league, so curious what kind of of Travis could fill on the Canucks.
Strengths/weaknesses, etc | How has he played this year?

He started off hot and sort of disappeared a bit down the stretch and now has been bumped out of the lineup with Simmonds returning and the addition of Galchenyuk.
If he can get on one of those offensive hot streaks again, a pretty nice player.

I thought Boyd started well but tailed off his last few games, being especially sucky in the most recent Ott game. Sucks to lose a guy who can fill an NHL role in an instant, but this doesn't sting too much.

I liked Boyd. This is more of a loss than Vesey in my opinion even as Vesey played more.

Eriksson, Beagle, Roussell, Myers, Baertchi, Luongo's recapture. So many awful contracts... Imagine if they didn't have those anchors and re-signed Toffoli and Tanev, they'd probably be a lot better off thats for sure.
He was fine as a fill in guy on the 4th line. Nothing more. Glad he will get some ice in Vancouver. Taking our cast offs lol. Vesey is trash

Good question.
I thought that I heard on Leaf lunch that Ian Scott is now on the taxi squad. Does this mean than one of Andersen, Campbell or Hutchison is leaving? Andersen to LTIR? I have no idea what is happening, but think that something is cooking.

Wouldn’t doubt a trade for a stopgap is coming while Freddy gets some much needed rest. Hopefully he comes back reinvigorated but if he doesn’t we need someone who can win games if Campbell gets injured again
The Canucks kinda are our west coast farm team. Could see us getting Pearson off them for a call up at the deadline lol!

one team's trash is another team's treasure. Vesey played top6, PP and SO for Canucks in his first game. Boyd will be Canucks 4th line center

Boyd wasn't good enough to be a regular forward for the Leafs, but he's instantly Vancouver's best bottom 6 player

With Galchenyuk up and a healthy team and now both Vesey and Boyd claimed it leaves a bit of a gap between forward #12 and who fills in for now. Petan and Barabanov are doing great in the AHL and are first and second in games played of who remains but went a combined 1 assist in 18 total games without PK time in their games. I'm calling for Adam Brooks to get an extended look. He's a versatile, two way center that has 4 points in 8 total NHL games, a good AHL career to date and someone who has never really got the look he deserves. If someone goes down before they bring another forward in I hope to see Brooks.

I highly doubt that Dubas was planning the deal that needed to move both players. It seemed that both players wanted playing-time, so Dubas gave them the opptunisty.
I hope the Leafs don't bring Brooks up only to expose him to waivers. I like him more than the other guys, and would rather he play on the Marlies until there is a more durable spot for him on the roster.
Mind you, if he gets called up, waived and claimed then thats good for Adam Brooks -- which I am all for -- but not so good for the Leafs. He is a younger, maybe better (maybe worse) version of Travis Boyd. He at least has a higher ceiling.

Well that didn't take long, and I suspect Dubas knew there was a good chance Boyd would get claimed. Hopefully it's a precursor to a trade that is close to being finalized.
He's still in talks of being traded could get him on the cheap cost wise and cap wise.

They took 2/3 of our former 4th line that played pretty well against them. Given their lack of depth at forward, I don't blame them to be honest.
