Blegh. I really enjoyed the coverage MSG had two years ago.

Pretty sure Dylan McIlrath called Dave Maloney "dude" after one his interviews too

I think this is a poor decision, but I'm sure the execs at MSG know better.

all of this talk about growing the game blah blah blah. this is a horrible decision by not only MSG, but the NHL and NHL Network.. some of these prospects could be core parts of the team in a few years? i remember watching Dubinsky and Staal in these prospect games...

I think I'm going to have to make the trip to Traverse City next year. I hear Michigan is lovely this time of year anyways.

MSG and NHL Network don't care about growing the game, nor should they be expected to.

People don't care = no advertising $ = no production budget.

It's the sad truth. Thought we could have gotten some type of stream like last years' camp though. Maybe that was an attempt at "lockout goodwill".

The flag ship station for the sport doesn't care about growing its game? Makes sense, it is the NHL where things are run half ass backwards. I guess they felt we the fans didn't enjoy enough Penguins' broadcasting shows over the summer

Of course they care about growing the game, but that doesn't mean they're going to do everything possible to make it happen. James Dolan or whoever else didn't just roll out of bed today, flip a coin, and decide that the games wouldn't be broadcasted. They obviously weighed the logistics of flying everyone and the equipment out there to cover it vs the benefits of doing so and decided it wasn't worth it. It would be nice but we as fans don't know everything that went into the decision. Sucks, but it is what it is.

I'm talking about the NHL network not msg

The NHL Network is the worst channel of the major sports. The MLB and NFL Networks are so far superior to the NHL Network that's a joke to mention them in the same sentence. NBA TV is better than the NHL Network. July 5 was the last day of live programming for the NHL Network.

Stacking the deck

At Traverse City, he’ll play on a line with Jesper Fast and Oscar Lindberg, two other prospects he may wind up competing against for a Rangers’ roster spot.

Kristo, noted for his skating ability, did not sign his two-year entry-level contract until April, then the Canadiens dealt him less than three months later.

“There were rumors going around,†Kristo said. “I didn’t hear about New York.â€

This.

It's due to the lack of revenue. They have the least # of viewers and the least ammount of funding.

It's a catch 22... you need $ to produce shows, you need viewers to get $... when your viewership is next to nothing in the summer, you use your resources to prepare for the season. But your viewership is next to nothing in the summer because you have no original programming.

How many other networks spend 1/2 a Mil - 1 million $ on an off-season tournament that lasts a few days?

Straight math, and I can guarantee that most TV execs (while not respected by viewers) can do math.

Honestly, what's needed is, a smaller company that produces and streams to become content partners with the NHL for things like this. The company would bring on sponsorship to pay for the production and they'd hire a few of NHL approved announcers to do play by play. It would take a 3rd party who is already set up and has a niche for something like this and keep NHL costs to a minimum. but it would be an internet only experience.

Jim Cerny used to work at Sportsphone. Before the internet, you would call Sportsphone 212-976-something to get the latest scores or trades. Then Cerny did a hockey radio show on Friday nights on an AM station on the right side of the dial. All the way on the right. Some small station. They would have hockey trivia. I answered a Rangers question and they sent me a Flyers T-shirt.

Nice find RB. I guess he's paid his dues. Good for him.

Personal story about Sportsphone. I was up in the mountains with my wife (and two kids at that time) during the 99 draft. I remember calling sportsphone from a mountain hotel n Norway to keep track of the draft. I nearly lost my mind when we got Brendl AND Lundmark. :help: I remembered the Sportsphone commercial went something like "to get your scores instantly, dial 974-1313. Sucks being a Ranger fan sometimes.

HFNYR2014 TCT live stream fund accepting donations now to get someone there to film with live feed stream.

JT Barnett must be in line for an AHL contract. The Rangers seem to like him. He was with them at Traverse City all the way back in 2010, and played in the prospect development camp with the team two months ago. He also played in development camps with New Jersey and Minnesota. Must have something noteworthy to his game to garner continued interest.

I'm hoping they can find a couple of players who are ready and willing to drop the gloves on the regular.

Oligny seems like a decent prospect. 40+ points in 65 games with 150+ PIM's. Only 5'10 but he is stocky at 190lbs

This year's squad is loaded with toughness.

Noreau
Graves
Donnay
Dodero
Oligny
Kantor
Leroux
Wilson
Yogan

Good mix of heavys and middleweights, prospects and long shots.

sometimes MGMT forgets to do their homework like the ROR offer sheet situation.

Or Holmgren in Philly.

Which is completely inexcuseable BTW. I mean, to some extent you can never erase the human factor like was the case with Chicago letting their RFA's become UFA's. Basically forgetting to put a letter on the mailbox or whatever happend. But Colorado and Holmgren in Philly clearly didn't have the working methods in place to comply with the rules they have to work under...
