GDT: Traverse City 2019 Part II

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I'm optimistic. If Lias/Chytil/Strome can assume that 2C role, I like our chances. Call me a crazy optimist, but I like our chances this year.

He is the king of wraparounds. It's truly part of his arsenal

End of Game. Rangers win 4-3 in OT so no championship game, but will be in the 3rd place game tomorrow.

Incredible finish for a team that stunk the first 2 periods. Fox, Kakko & Kravtsov all took the game on their sticks at the end which is a beautiful thing. Shesterkin had a better game this time around, however still would’ve wanted a little better of a showing. Think he faced 20 shots (can someone fact check that). Other good games go to Reunanen, Jones, Henriksson & Newell. Dmowski & Robertson were okay, but weren't bad in any sense. Everyone else sucked, so we’ll see where they’ll end up in training camp.

Sucks for LZG to get a bullshit hit to the head. Hope he’s alright. He’s looked good in the tourney so far.

All in all, sloppy game that turned out better as time went by!!

I kinda believe Kakko knew he was gonna score. With him circling the net twice, he gained so much speed , he knew the goalie couldn't get to the otherside of the post before him.

Quick thoughts:
1 - Really Impressed with Reunanen's game. Very composed. Smart plays. Really like his game.
2 - Kakko, Kravtsov and Panarin are going to need some really heady 200ft centers. These guys are so dangerous but only if the Centers and D can't get them the puck.
3 - gonna be real interesting to see how this team develops in their own zone. Curious to see how well we're able to forecheck. Gonna be more of a euro puck possession team me thinks.

They should consider offering Nick Jones an ELC. At the very least, he should be good in Hartford. Dmowski looks surprisingly good too, though not as naturally talented.

I continue to remain unimpressed with Keane. I've watched a lot of him, and while I do think he was a good value pick, I don't think he's nearly as gifted as some make him out to be. He looks like 5/6 two-way guy if it all comes together. Or, more likely, part of a trade.

You have me beat. I came onboard in 1988. I was so tired of all these other teams getting to draft these franchise forwards and never us. That is now in the past. The Kakko era is upon us.

Panarin is like one of the best controlled zone entry players in the league if not the best.

He doesn’t need any help in that regard. I imagine Kravstov won’t be too far behind.

Completely agree on Jones and Keane. Keane has regressed badly
