Training Camp/Preseason games Thread 2021

McNelly gets a contract. Two fights so far and an assist. Kings have no toughness on D in either Ontario or LA. He’s a project just like MacDermid was in 2014.

Toby's prolly gonna get elbowed again and nothing's gonna be done about it. kinda sad I guess. Any toughness is welcomed.

Do you guys watch any other NHL games? Literally every team has guys on their board whining how “nobody stands up to anybody on this team”

If any team actually fought as much as you guys want, there would be no time left for hockey.
It's like the Power Play. Almost every fanbase whines about it and thinks their PP is incompetent.

I wonder if the Kings can’t score out of the gate if we see a move where AA heads to St. Louis and Tarasenko comes to LA. The net cap increase wouldn’t be too bad, and we have a ton of cap space next year anyways.

Did you miss the entirety of last season? The Kings caved in on themselves night after night. No accountability, no leadership, very little team play, just a bunch of timid individuals skating around for themselves and rarely rising to meet the emotional level of the opponents. The Kings were betas to some of the worst teams in the league.

This team can bring in talent all they want, but it won't mean anything until they can coalesce into a team, and part of that is just flat out giving a shit about the guy next to you. Fighting ain't the be all and end all, but the willingness to take one on the nose for a teammate goes a long way to establishing a common goal. You don't need a MacDermid, you need a team that cares about each other hunting in packs and dictating tone instead of meekly reacting.

I forgot which year it was, but it was a very recent preseason where the Kings were absolute trash and posters alike said "just preseason on God Bro" and the Kings continued to play that way for the rest of the regular season.

Good times.

Good times.

Think it was 2019, even Dooley alluded to that one recently, they just got crushed all preseason whether rookies or vets and while normally no one gives a f***, for some reason that was exactly how they played all year.

However last night no one saw the game to make those assumptions and between the rookie lineup and carrying the play it MIGHT be a little early to be drawing those lines

But frankly TM is on the shortest of leashes with me so I'll make no attempt to defend it

How can anyone draw conclusions on a lineup that was lacking 85% of your top two lines, your top defensive pair and your #1 goalie. LOL, is this really a discussion?

I don't think you can take any result of a game played without Kopitar, Doughty, Danault, Arvidsson, Roy, Vilardi et. al. and come to any conclusion on how successful we will this season given how important the aforementioned players are to our success.

Also who were the best players out for Arizona?

No really who were they?

I have no idea who the f*** is on that team anymore.

Yeah for sure. I was just bringing up the loss cause it was funny. But to bring up I guess 2019 preseason where the Kings were absolute trash and played the same way all season, I think if the Kings are doing very poorly by December then they need to can him.

Win or losses doesn't mean anything in preseason, however if the Kings do lose and get outplayed regularly in the preseason then I don't see why they will break that trend in the regular season. Recent history confirms that.

Just watching highlights from last nights pre-season games around the NHL and oh goodie we get the game on radio with no live feed or highlights again tonight.

LA KINGS PROJECTED LINEUP vs. SHARKS

Arvidsson – Kopitar – Wagner
Tkachev – Danault – Iafallo
Andersson – Vilardi – Brown
Pinelli – Byfield – Madden

Other options: Lizotte and Dudas

Maatta – Doughty
Bjornfot – Spence
Wolanin – Clague

Other options: Roy and Strand

Quick (starter)
Sparks

Ignore that. It's wrong. Check Dooley.

EDIT : T. save you the trouble...

based on who left practice early and didn't skate last night AND McLellan telling everyone that these two preseason games wouldn't feature many vets

Pinelli, Doty, Sodergran, Burke, Madden, Dudas, Wagner, Lizotte, ANdersson, Byfield, Tkachev, Vilardi, Iafallo

Strand, Wolanin, Spence, Bjornfot, Roy, Clague

Sparks, Quick

Goalies may split time again

EDIT TWO :

"Most likely, Garret Sparks will be Quick’s tandem partner tonight. However, McLellan and his staff may be re-thinking it after taking a look at those pads he was sporting on Sunday in Ontario. Jacob Ingham will be waiting in the wings, just in case."

Sparks had different pads on yesterday but had worn the same pads (houndstooth) every day of camp prior to the event on Sunday.

AND ANOTHER THING

Reign Camp opens soon. Not sure if there will be a ton of cuts before the games against Vegas but you can expect a decent amount of players to be available for Ontario when their camp starts.

McNelly and Gaunce are the only players still in camp with no contract but Gaunce played in Ontario last season and it seems reasonable to assume he'll be there again this year.

So you can expect anybody on an AHL contract to be part of that group that gets sent to Ontario to open their camp

Brett Sutter
Adam Johnson
Lucas Parik (G)
Jonathan Lethemon (G)
Brett Kemp
Jacob Doty
Nikita Pavylchev

"AND ANOTHER THING" are you f***ing kidding me here?

I speak for everyone when I say , we were all waiting for EDIT THREE: and we get "AND ANOTHER THING"

WTH man!?

Good things happen in threes: Three little pigs, Three bears, Three Stooges, Three French Hens, the girl with three breasts from Total Recall
