I think we should wait to give it to LaF as I think he has a huge year next season but I wouldn’t mind Trouba at all. I really think it will be Trouba too

Trouba is the most tenured vet that actually embodies the direction the team has been aspiring to go toward. It's mostly symbolic, but this franchise likes symbols. We could (and have) do(ne) worse.

Camp weigh ins
Should've added in Chytil at like 180lb and Laf with a more appropriate age for his looks

Lots of people mentioning Kaapo's conditioning. I just wanna say that in the podcast interview linked a while back, he himself said that condition was never a problem.

Make of that what you will.

There was a not so flattering image of Kakko a few weeks ago that made him look a lot heavier than he really is and the board has had fun with, including some fatty photoshops.

Then beat writer Vince sent another blurry pic of Kakko at the rookie camp and his silhouette resembled that of 1988 Altered Beast.

Everyone knows he's in great shape we are just having a little fun, except EdJovanoski who has been given clearance to continue the joke

Nah, that's not it. People have been ragging on his conditioning since the rookie season. So there's a clear difference in what Kakko thinks about his conditioning vs. what viewers think they're seeing.

Can someone explain the nickname "Turk" to me, because Gallant doesn't look like, nor has any roots to the Ottomans
It is actually Turkey ....like as in the barnyard types . I think if I remember correctly his grandfather raised some and Gerard would often feed them ...hence the name Turkey . Sometimes when you come from a community filled with the last surname Gallant you needed a nickname to distinguish the kids.....probably were a few named Gerard at that time . Some other Gallant nick names given to a few hockey players from that area and maybe relatives of his included Lloyd Toy Toy Gallant & Mike Pinky Gallant who has two sons playing in the AHL Brett & Alex. LOL...I will ask Turk's brother some day if that is actually where the nickname came from to confirm.

In the articles I have seen from this summer it was the trainers who were surprised of his conditioning and not Kakko.

Was putting off watching that GG video because I assumed it was just more of the same, but tbh he seems like a real straight shooter. DQ and AV were great with the media, but all their answer's were just part of the official NHL coaching script. From GG, I don't sense any bullshit. Really excited to see what he can do with this roster, gonna be a fun run fellas.

Gallant said the same things Quinn said and that they all say. He said the system will essentially be the same as under Quinn because all teams play similar systems.

The big differences this season are the importing of grit and the natural maturation and improvements of all the youth.

According to some articles i have been reading (in finnish) he is in EXCELLENT physical condition.

is he really 227lbs though? We all know who writes articles. Oh he lifted weights and looks strong so he must he in EXCELLENT physical condition and then he's gassed in the 3rd b/c of weight. He looks thick and we're all excited yet, you never know.

That's a big weight gain

I guess that was a joke?!? I see 199 in the chart but i think that´s from last year. My guess is 210ish

So the D is deep on paper if kids are legit
Lindgren , Fox
Miller, Trouba
Nemeth , Lundqvist
Jones , Tinordi
Robertson, Schneider
Hajek, Bitetto
Reuananen, Skinner

Think Robertson - Schneider also is AHL eligeble this year. 14 players with either NHL experience or NHL upside for NYR & Hartford
