  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. So now players look forward to post-game interviews in the locker room because it's Curry instead of Dan "Soon" Moriarty.

I have a weird feeling that Dan is handing out Herbalife posters in Venice

Great game... got the penalties worked out in the first.

Kopitar back to making moves and getting shots on net... Thank god... that knee last year must have been bothering him last year.

Clifford got a couple partial breaks. Skating trainer looks like it may pay off a little...

Nolan made it through the game without taking a penalty!!!!

King looked good. Nice pass back to Kopitar... He should hire his bro as a boxing coach...

Carcillo didn't look bad. Come on ref he hit that guy in the shoulder... clean play...

Frattin/Richards/Carter look like they need a little more time to gel, but lots of potential.

oh yeah and Lewis running around and chasing down the puck has got to be annoying for the other team.

Add Brown, Put king on the 4th and that will probably be the starting lineup.

I thought the defensive pairs were exceptional once they got their feet under them. Martinez was very impressive on both sides of the puck overall, it's him or Muzzin at #6 I think. Amart looks noticably better this year.

Interesting quote from Sutter re Martinez

- Sutter on the overall game: “It’s good to see Kopitar on top of his game and King on top of his game, and Martinez is trying to prove himself. I don’t know if I’ve given him enough opportunity, he made two good plays; hopefully it gives him more confidence.”

Couple of quotes from post game:

Dennis Bernstein ‏@DennisTFP 7h Sutter on Willie Mitchell being ready for opening night...'ohhhh we got a long way to go.'

Dennis Bernstein ‏@DennisTFP 7h Kings Anze Kopitar tells us that after speaking with Darryl Sutter and Luc Robitaille in off season, he will look 'shot first' more often
That's great news and esp since he's got such strength and speed skating into the zone but why wouldn't he know to do that already? Looking forward to seeing that in action when it counts next week.

missed it all last night. sat down watched the pre-game and then blackness.......

blackout rules in effect. seriously? it's pre-season you jagoffs. not to mention i've got the CI package. the NHL needs to seriously look at and improve game coverage and give fans the choice of viewing they want.

good to hear how and what unfolded. being in Chicago i haven't had the chance to see any games yet, so i am counting down the days until the real deal begins

I thought the 4th line was pretty good last night. And if King keeps up his play like that, I will take back everything I've said about him.

Also that new video intro is awesome!

Top 5 Players from tonights game in my perspective:

1. Anze Kopitar
2. Trevor Lewis
3. Dwight King
4. Alec Martinez
5. Kyle Clifford

Honorable Mentions: Justin Williams, Jonathan Quick, Daniel Carcillo.

Curry looked good on my TV too, so she's the MVP of tonight.

There is no way Justin Williams should be out of your top 5 list from last night. He was definitely one of the best players on the ice.

Wow that's great, I'm glad he realizes that he didn't give amart much of a shot. He looked really solid today. And also I enjoyed this kopitar I saw today. He was the confident superstar he should be playing like.

Richards still out of shape lol. Needs to stop eating so much in n out

As I have been saying Martinez is a very good player and someone the Kings need on the back line (Can skate and carry the puck out of the zone as well as not being afraid to come down low) Yes he is not the strongest against the boards but is other skills out way the deficiencies. Look at Regehr last night he looks like he's wearing a piano on his back. Green looks like Paul Coffey compared to Regehr. If Doughty is going to team with Regehr the whole year he's going to wear himself out. It is a difficult decision as I do not know who would be the best fit to play with Doughty as the #1 pair.

Richards always looks out of shape. He has that lackadaisical manner then all of a sudden makes that smart play or gets that extra burst to separate. He almost looks like he's saving energy until he needs it.

My impression from watching the game.
Williams always plays hard.
Kopitar looked like the Kopitar - last year I think Gaspar suited up for his brother in the playoffs.
Stoll plays hard and does alot of nothing
Voynov is the best defenseman we have.
Mitchell looks uneasy on his skates.
Carter can fly.
Nolan has moved up on the depth chart.
Frattin was trying to hard.
Know why Lewis is a coaches favorite.
Penner misses the guys wearing Homeplate.
Quick will not last by the way he plays. He has to pull a groin, Hipflexor, or he really is Gumby.

Kings won. They should have. Ducks were playing a bunch of AHLers and Kings were playing all vets. Kings had a slow start and let the Ducks stay in it. Glad for the meaningless win but was hoping for more. Maybe credit Fasth

Agree on pretty much everything. Mitchell is going to be fine once he gets a string of games under him. I just pray he stays healthy. Nolan has definitely picked up some speed.

I'm worried about Quick also. He's still young so he will bounce back - but playing this kind of style will tend to wear you down in the long run. It's almost like Rafa Nadal in tennis - his style of game is wearing out his knees and ultimately will cause him to retire earlier than most.

I was walking in the woods and I swear I saw Quick, but it turns out it was just a rubber tree.

I don't think he is going to have problems until later in his career, but when he does start losing flexibility, it will give him problems quickly.

Re: Stoll. Pucknut nailed it. I love what Stoll brings late in the game, on the PK, and on defense, but it's like he's always spinning his wheels in the offensive zone. He's always in the correct position, but just a fraction of a second late. Some work with power skating might really boost his production. I think that's where he gets his 'late hit' reputation, because he knows what to do with his body but his legs get him there behind schedule.

Unfortunately it's looking more and more like he's headed back to Manchester

I can't see why. Judging only by last night's game (I was there), Frattin should be selling pillows - because he knows what 'soft' is. When he wasn't out of position defensively, he was flubbing passes (sending & receiving) and getting knocked off the puck. And knocked off the puck. And knocked off the puck. Easily. And then he'd stand there and look at the guy who knocked him off skate away with the puck.
Toffoli looked a heck of a lot better last year during the season and in the playoffs than Frattin did last night. Maybe it was an aberration. I hope so. Otherwise TT should definitely get the nod over this guy.
