Vrana with a nice goal. He’s our 30g 1st round acquiring guy
Part of can’t wait for a nice (hopefully) 1st round return, but if he can keep his head on straight, dare I say he might be worth keeping?

Good shift in the offensive zone. Perunovich made a nice play on the re-entry too with the fake dump and find the late guy hopping on. Really like how he moves the puck.
Peru is a fantastic puck mover. Best we have had since Dunn. But he isn’t as well rounded and is up to this point considerably more fragile, so probably not the best comp.

Can we afford him and Kyrou on the same team? Similar styles and probably not the style for playoff Blues. I really don’t know.

I think it depends on the rest of the compliment. I think one dimensional players are much easier to hide on forward than D for example.

I also don’t think we are slated for greatness anytime soon, so having Kyrou and Vrana doesn’t hurt too bad. And it gives you more fire power if an elusive #1 D becomes available. Plus, having either a goal scoring offensive forward or dynamic skating forward is important to building a contender.

We aren't great but Columbus is slightly worse. It's preseason and we're only playing like 1/2 of our actual team.

Either way, we just need him to be great and have his head on straight.

For the right price, sure. Gauge the mutual interest around the midseason mark and if he's willing to accept a reasonable deal, get it done. If not, he'll fetch a nice pick at the TDL.

That game reminded me very much of last year. Didn't have the puck much, heavily out shot and out chanced, bailed out by goaltending. If this was supposed to help get me excited for the regular season I would say it did the opposite.

didn’t you know the tank starts in the pre season?

I actually didn't. Interesting.

Yes, well, now you know.

And looking at Sammy’s stat line, he is absolutely a throwback type(79 PIM in 48 games). Not sure if he’s a legitimate NHL prospect but he should be a fun add for Springfield.

Both of them can score a lot of goals and aren't good at defending when the other team has the puck. But that is about where their similarities end.

They are opposite handedness and they create their offense in pretty different ways. Vrana doesn't play with the puck on his stick very much. He isn't much of a stickhandler, he doesn't try to beat guys inside all that often and his bread and butter is receiving a puck and immediately getting it on net with a hard, accurate shot.

Kyrou loves playing with the puck on his stick. He is constantly driving to the inside and looking to out wait the goalie.

You should be able to have plenty of success with a couple defensively unsound wingers that create offense in polar opposite ways. We are a ways off from needing to make a decision about trading vs extending Vrana, but I don't view him as all that similar to Kyrou beyond both being offensive guys who can score.

Or Sam Dickinson.

Bottom line; this year’s draft is D heavy.
If we make the PO’s, great. Maybe we don’t need as much as we think we do.
If we don’t make the PO’s, we’ll be in position to draft a potential top pairing D.
I don’t see how we lose either way.

I don't like to actively root against the team until I think the season is lost anyway. How ever I think if we're gonna suck for a couple year ( including last year ) then we should make the best of it and try to get some high picks. A D heavy draft would be exceptionally beneficial to us right now. So if we suck I'm not going to get to p***y hurt over it.

Do we currently have a 1st round pick this year?

If we do suck I can see DA obtaining a couple of draft picks at the TDL.
