Even if you PB Stanley there are two other dmen that require waivers in Kovacevik and that one who starts with a C. One or both have to be waived depending on how many extra forwards we keep.
With heinola playing right side, I can’t see many situations where kovacevic makes the team - you have to gamble and waive him

C guy will not be picked off waivers

At that point I believe it has to be a rights issue and not a "We don't want to show this" issue. It wasn't on SN either for Calgary.

Don't know how it could be that. AFAIK, TSN have rights to all Jets game except for a specific number (22?) of national games that belong to SN. Correct me if wrong, but I think they have shown all pre-season games in the past.

Odd that they would show the less meaningful earlier games and not the more meaningful last 2.

I'm lazy so I'm just going to copy and paste from Twitter:

I think the Jets are scared to lose much depth on waivers. Could be wrong but that's my guess.

Given that the #6 spot is for LD I think Heinola is on the outside looking in. I think Samberg is the best choice to be on the 3rd pair with Pionk and taking PK mins. Heinola provided most value during camp but a lot of it was via PP scoring and not sure he'll be as impactful given how few mins PP2 gets.

That's kinda combo of what I think will happen with what I would do.

EDIT: oh also I think Stanley and Kovacevic are the 7-8s

Id guess it would be Kovy unless they send Heinola down

I think Heinola gets sent down because he can be.

Worth noting that as per his usual trajectory he has gotten stronger and looked more confident as he's played more and more -- and he's done it while playing his first run of pro games on his offside.

Hopefully we see him up again this season, and for a longer spell.

I see no situation where losing Kovy impacts the Jets going forward, or where Stanley suddenly blossoms or where Samberg suddenly adds significant offensive impact -- but with 1 spot and 3/4 players something's gotta give.

I do think that if Heinola can continue to develop on the right side then his value to the team and possible trade partners is going to grow.

If they carry 8 d which forward gets waived though?

Would they rather risk losing Kovy, Toninato or Harkins?

Yeah, if he can keep doing that role then I think you can move a more expensive RD like Pionk/Schmidt.

Alright guys been a real busy summer building my garage. What did I miss of camp? Fill me in on all the deets.
Lambert turned out to actually be good
Dubois hate continues (he had 2g last night in the first period before being pulled with an lbi)
Stanley stumbled his way through camp
Heinola was the only one of the 3 that played last night which may mean he gets the last spot on opening night
Wheeler quiet offensively but looks very engaged
Schiefele seems to have rediscovered his 200 ft game
The top line of 81 55 27 is going to terrorize the league
No save Dave indeed made saves
Helle solid
Connor with 4g 4a in 3 preseason games
Pp is full of motion and looking very dangerous
Pk very effective
Maenalanen is a player, big moves well, sensibly physical, intelligent and mature
Barron was hurt and only got the last two games, hard to assess
Flames are dirty and had 2 suspendable offenses in 2 games
Jets aggressive and pressuring the puck all over the ice, the Flames couldn't handle us
Lots and Lots to be excited about

I've loved everything I've seen from Bones. He has managed to take a fractured team and re- engage them. There has been alot of upbeat attitudes ,smiles and talk. He has called out the vets when he needed to.We are seeing shorter shifts, and a more aggressive game in all 3 zones. Quicker engagement with the puck carrier in all 3 zones and it results in broken plays and turnovers for the opposition. I loved his comment last night " if you run one of us, you run all of us. If you take a penalty because of that, we will kill it."
I'm not as concerned about who stays or plays with the big club, as I am about how who ever is here plays within Bones system. Like I said I love what I'm seeing. I think we are going to have watchable hockey again.

Jets are going to regret waiving Kovey ……. Florida will put a claim in for him because their defence sucks and Paul Maurice knows him

they will not get him though as Florida is like 32 on the waiver wire list

I'm happy for him though, he was never going to be a regular here and he'll get to play everyday and maybe establish himself.

We can start giving more responsibility to the next crop of guys like Chisholm, Gawanke etc.
