Yeah that’s some serious skill. We always were complaining about not having franchise players due to not tanking. Well we have one right here. (arguably a few others as well).

I'm more worried about some of the vets than I am of the Rooks and ELC players.

Notably Kreider and Panarin and to a lesser extent Zibanejad. Kreider got his pay day so I'm hoping that hasn't given him comfort to coast and Bubble hockey Panarin looked like 2015 MSL and I really hope that was just rust. No one knows whats up with Zibanejad so thats some cause for concern, but if hes skating hes probably alright. If those 3 are fine, we'll be more than fine.

I got a Lafreniere jersey for Christmas, and I still can't believe he's a Ranger
It’s so insane. I remember reading about him in like 2016 or 2017. Of course people were really excited about him and considered him a franchise talent. I remember thinking ah man 2020 is so far away. And even when we get there, there’s no way he’ll come to MY team (because I think this was when we were still pretty good). And now we have him??

I’m not sure Morgan Barron has done enough from what I can gather. I think he may have to wait a bit until a trade is made for him to get his nhl shot.

and I don’t really think he should be a fourth liner frankly.

I see Lemieux Howden Rooney being a pretty solid 4th line.

PDG the 13th.
I think Barron and Reunanen are still a year away at the very least. Maybe two. Not that I mind the wait, but I think they are getting a bit overrated. I also thought that Miller was certainly at least a year away from the NHL, but I am so happy that I appear to be wrong.

Laf, Kakko, Shesty, and Miller are making me really excited about the season.

No matter what happens this is going to be a fun season.
There will be a lot of really fast paced hockey, and a lot of mistakes especially early on. We’re not built to be a tight counter punch team like the islanders, but we are built to score 8 goals in a game.

Guys have to go on waivers today rosters submitted tomorrow so we should get a good idea on the fringe guys

this has been the worst covered camp ever so hard to really see who hasn’t done much but I don’t like that hajek has done nothing (expected) reunanen hasn’t made much of a case either. I mentioned Barron seems to have been quiet too.

gettinger never heard his name not once.

Don't know if it has been done, but I might keep doing this. Laf answered a couple of questions in French (or at least what Quebecois call "french")
and I thought to myself, maybe HFNYR would appreciate a translation, I figure few here speak french. Again sorry if this was already done.

French questions start at 5:23.

Q#1 - CM: "How did you feel this morning? 19 y old, 1st OA pick, NHL and New York City on top of all that?"

AL: "Felt good. Was exited. Been watching couple of guys for years, now training and being on the ice with them is special. Try to watch and gain exp from the older guys/vets. (A good place to be.)"

Q#2 - GL: "Coach Quinn said you got to talk together a bit yesterday. What did you take from that conversation, what's your feeling towards the coach (and something quebec gibberish/ his "intent" maybe)?"

AL: "Got a very good feeling. (...) We talked about hockey, life and everyday stuff. I think he's a great coach with a great mentality. It's really fun to have a coach like that, to listen to and improve."

Q#3 - KD: "You mentioned you watched couple of players in the years past. Who is the player on the team - now that you got to skate with them - you watched most, that impressed you most?"

AL: "I think it's Panarin. He's one of the best players in the league. It's the guy I watch most closely when he's on the ice. When he does a practice drill, I try to figure out what he does well and I try (produce) that myself. To have players like that on your team is always good. As an offensive player myself, I like to watch others to improve myself."

It's tough for the media coverage since nothing is in person. All the zooms and videos of practice cannot simulate them actually being there. Plus with no preseason, we cannot even guess who is doing well.

You mentioned these fringe players, but there are a bunch of guys that are even at the bottom of the roster that we know nothing about. Haven't heard anything about Lemieux. Same goes for someone like Smith. Nothing on Wall or Huska, even though we know they are going to be in Hartford/taxi squad. Very little on someone like Rooney, except that he tried to kill Lafreniere. Even Kakko hasn't been the focus of attention, but the little we have heard has been good.

Whenever I explain to people why the Rangers are gonna be so fun to watch this season, I somehow always add Panarin as sort of an after thought. Not that he deserves to be, we just have so much to look forward to that he somehow gets lost in the shuffle. Crazy.

I keep forgetting about Matthew Robertson. I really wanted to see this kid in camp and we haven’t gotten a sniff on him. Very intriguing prospect for us. IMO the guy that should slide into that second or third LD spot long term.

I dream of a reliable third pairing of Robertson Schneider one day soon you win Cups with guys like that.

By the way that’s not a knock on lundkvist I just see him as the guy every team is going to ask for in a trade and he’ll never play over fox or trouba.

I’m not sure he’s here much longer.

on that note kind of crazy with the prospect pool we have, but we’ve got some very valuable veterans to offload soon for even more. Buchnevich Strome and DeAngelo will all most likely be moved in the next 18 months or so. You can get quite the hall for those 3.
