Maybe it was me but last game the streaming was perfect quality for me. Rarely had glitches and the quality was on par with TSNs streaming. Audio sucked and cut out but since its stauffer thats actually a blessing

Same. Outside of one black screen for ten seconds it was just fine.

Oilers just tweeted you can watch the game on their website. Another game where we have to endure their pathetic streaming.

Niiiice. Game Centre. Will be watching through that. And for those of you who are blacked out 3 letters DNS, look it up.

Yep last game was near perfect, other than a third period glitch for about 3 min. Most people I suspect were watching the baseball game though so my guess is the system can't handle the # of steamers.

Game centre?? Heck yes.

"Maroon is tied with Oscar Klefbom and Anton Slepyshev for the team lead in points so far this pre-season with three. "

I know pts aren't everything but was surprised to see his name here. How has he played this preseason?

Considering the Oilers got spanked hard in their last game vs. Winnipeg, I would expect at home in the 2nd last preseason game they will try to put their best foot forward. There's no best foot forward without Captain Connor in the lineup.

He's been great :)

And he's only had 2 (3?) games

He's looks faster, he's making nice passes, hitting guys, pretty much everything I hoped to see

He didn't play last game right? I think that means we should see the first line tonight.

Correct he didn't play in the anahiem game. Ah man this would be awesome if he's in tonight

I think the McDavid line is in tonight and hoping they trial run Pouliot RNH Draisatl as a line.

Doubt the Oilers keep Puljujarvi up just so they would have someone to play left boards on the 2nd PP unit.

Agreed. We have a ton of forwards who could easily play PP and will have a difficult time fitting them all in even without Puljujarvi. They like the net front presence that Letestu gives and will probably want Lucic or Maroon to fill that role on the other PP unit. Then we have McDavid, Eberle, Pouliot, RNH and Draisaitl getting guaranteed time. That's 7 or 8 forwards and if you add one d-man on each unit our PP is pretty full. That's without giving Yak any time.

How is Kassian looking for you guys? I miss the big guy and want to know how you guys feel about him, since he's been with the team for a while now. Thanks.

He was great for us off the hop but faded away as the season went on. In part because he couldn't even look in someone's general direction without being called for a penalty. The amount of penalties he took that were complete BS by the refs was staggering.

This year he looks good but has not stood out in any way shape or form. I think if he just plays simple hockey he is an ok 4th liner but if the refs don't let him agitate it really seems to reduce his effectiveness.

I thought for sure Kassian would establish himself as a top 9 forward from what I have seen over the years, but if you look at his total body of work in Edmonton he just hasn't been good enough for that, yet anyways.

Hopefully we see some actual NHL lines these last couple games. I think the coaches must have their minds made up already on who should stick on the final roster. The final couple games should be used to see this team get its lines up to near full NHL tempo so they can hit the ground running when the season starts and the games actually count.

The first chunk of the schedule is reasonably easy (relatively) and it would be good for the team to get off to a quick start and bank some pts early. Plus I think psychologically it would be nice to have the team get off to an energized and aggressive start to the year instead of a slow chemistry building type scenario.

Agreed for the most part, though I think the main factor in his late season fade was his conditioning, or lack of it.

He appears to be in much better shape in both body and mind going into this season.

I agree that JP should be AHL-bound for 3-4 weeks at least. That said, the reason the previous poster is right is that this is the era of the side PP bomb. Ovi kinda pioneered that and you are seeing it more and more. It's the one sure way to break down the modern penalty kill, because it negates shot blocking and gets the goalie moving fast.

There is simply no player on the regular squad right now who is a natural shooter in that role. That is a HUGE hole. Ebs has silky hands but a hard accurate shot from 20' out is not his thing. Not a single other Oiler has ever established himself as a shooter. JP is going to be that guy, so the sooner we can slot him into that crucial role, the better.

Gonna bold the locks for Game 1 Lineup:

Forwards:
Eberle, Lucic, RNH, Pouliot, Yakupov, Hendricks, Letestu, Maroon, Kassian, Lander, Draisaitl, McDavid, Pakarinen, Slepychev, Versteeg, Caggiula, Puljujärvi, Pitlick

Defenseman:
Sekera, Klefbom, Larsson, Davidson, Nurse, Gryba, Fayne, Ference(IR), Benning, Reinhart

Goalies:
Talbot
Gustavsson

Lucic McDavid Eberle
Maroon Draisaitl Yak
Pouliot RNH _______ (JP/Versteeg/Caggiula)
____ Letestu ______ (Slepy/Kassian/Pitlick)
Lander

Inj: Hedricks, Pakarinen

Klefbom Larson
Sekera Fayne
Nurse ______ (Davidson/Gryba)
Reinhart

Inj: Ference

My thoughts: Benning is really going to have to put on a show to out-shine Davidson. Reinhart won't make starting lineup unless Davidson ****s the bed. Gryba may get signed for depth if we don't add someone via trade/FA before Game 1.

Slepy, Caggiula, JP up front and Benning + Reinhart on D dont have to be put on waivers.. Should be the easier cuts. Caggiula is the only one of these who would make the team better right away. Others could certainly use some AHL time.

Its going to come down to Versteeg vs Caggiula IMO.

Finally my Centre Ice package will start to pay off. No streaming for me tonight:yo: I hope that we can finally start to see some of that culture change and swagger start to develop that Lucic was talking about. I haven't seen any signs of it yet. The games have been pretty emotionless and boring so far (at least the ones I've watched). Time to start ramping up for regular season.

Hmmm. Benning with Sekera tonight, they're certainly giving him every opportunity to make this team aren't they?

On one hand its good we are exploring him as an option. On the other I hope we are no shoe horning him into a role solely because hes a right hand D whos physical
