Chicago could take our contracts we may need to unload. Possibilities being:Not sure Chicago has the retention slot we would need to make that work if they plan on trading Seth Jones this season.
Not ideal for sure but he permanently pushes Kampf out of the top 9 and gives the wingers someone they can maybe produce with so he makes the club better. My thought was that his cost, relative to some other options, could tip the scales if they want a better D addition.Strome is a decent enough player, but do we need a 3c who little else aside from decent offense?
Dude, he owes you nothingSo what? He disliked Keefe !!! Even more of a reason NOT to re-acquire him. He abandoned his Leaf teammates for a petty dislike of the head coach. He also abandoned the people of Ontario, his birth place!!!
f*** ROR !!!
And, we owe him nothing as well!!! He can rot in Trumpland for all of eternity.Dude, he owes you nothing
COL got depth for 2nd and 4th only. Not bad.
Minten is probably a #4C. Domi has negative value at this point. The more I think about it, the more I dislike the idea of giving up Minten in a package for B. Schenn. Minten could very well be ready to assume the 3C role next season at a fraction of the AAV and may provide similar production. I would be willing to part with Domi and a 1st and scraps for Schenn with retention. Otherwise, it's not worth it in my opinion.
No, no, he besmirched the motherland and must be dealt with.Dude, he owes you nothing

Some players just aren't cut out for Toronto, and that's fine. In fact, there may be some still with the team. lolAnd, we owe him nothing as well!!! He can rot in Trumpland for all of eternity.
There is nothing out there about liking ROR. His deal is good and he is the best 200ft option. Plus 28 ppp in 23-24, $2M less than Schenn and only on the books for 2 more years. I heard he didn't like the coach, or also he didn't like the culture, or he didn't like the attention getting stopped by fans on the street. A lot of this seems to be guessing from some anonymous sources. Below is from a 2023 Sportsnet article.I may be out there but id prefer ROR over Schenn. Gourde would be a solid bottom 6 add irregardless. Course this is all without knowing price. I wouldn’t pay much for Gourde.

Almost anyone but Schenn IMO because they have no value contracts and he seems to have really declined from what he was a couple of years ago. As a rental or if the club had let one of the big 3 go they could make the space, but just too much money this club to absorb for a guy with 3 years x $6.5 left.
Laughton has had a bit of a bounce back year but that may be directly connected to him being no longer used much at center (distant 4th on the team in FO this year). The contract means it can't be a deal that murders them for years like Schenn so if the price is right and there are no other options maybe but.....
I thought if not Cozens then maybe Hayton but his recent hat trick came at exactly the wrong time. Then we get into players Pageau, Kunin ,Evans or Bjugstad that are in tough to produce better than Kampf. They help but they don't really solve the #3c hole.
Brock Nelson? A pure rental who pks a little bit. I am 100% confidant he would outscore Schenn and probably Strome (2.26 pp60 vs 2.05 this year) Another primary OZ% guy which means JT stays with a lot of DZ starts but you can only the skill sets that are available right? They had said they wanted an add with some term too but there has to be that guy available.
I used the word "Probably" which does not exude confidence that he cannot be a #3. Now if I said, he is no more than a #4C, then you'd be right.Minten is already a 4C. Hard to say if he has more to give offensively, but it’s silly to say with any confidence that he’s maxed his potential at 19.

Sorry, to clarify, was Friedman reporting our interest or speculating/giving an opinion on who we should target?
I can definitely see Tre having interest.
Don't think I like that trade for Colorado.
Lindgren has, in my very limited perception, struggled the last couple years. He went from a player I wanted to one I would avoid.
That said, he'll probably be amazing now that I've weighed in.
