If Pickard sucks today, move him and a pick for James Reimer. He’s actually having an okay season lol and we gain some cap room

I hated Stu's comments last game. I'm glad Rishaug felt the same.
"I feel great"
"Those shots beat most goalies" on the shitty shot that beat him
"They (Panthers) do a great job in front of our net- that's why they win" Sounded like a dig at his team.

This guy has no competitive bone in his body and zero accountability. You dont win with players like that. I dont know how Drai and MacD put up with it (Drai lost it on him last game).

Need a new goalie bad

Stu has been saying this kind of shit for months now and it’s so cringe. You are right, he has no idea how to take accountability for his own poor play and would rather blame everyone else.

Maybe Skinner figures it out on a different club (under a different goalie coach) but he is a net negative right now and the team would be better off with one of the literal 48 other goalies above him in GAA.

Kane has to go one way or another, if he wants to be here for a playoff run good for him, then go on LTIR. If not, then he can be traded. Otherwise he was going to be traded in the summer no matter what unless he shows he is back as the old Kane.

He only has 2.6 million remaining in actual salary this year after his signing bonus was paid out (I'm assuming that was in July), so for the rest of the year that's peanuts.

Next year it's 4 million in actual salary. That's not sky high given how much the cap is rising by. The cap number is almost irrelevant as we'll likely be dumping him to a team like Anaheim who will then buy him out probably in the summer.

A team like Anaheim can buy him out for 2.6 million total (1.3 buy out cap x 2 years). They're not going to be spending close to the 95.5 million cap roof let alone the 100+ million that's coming the year afterwards.

The cap number doesn't matter to teams well below the cap, it's actual dollars that matter.

This is how it should be. If Kane wants to sewer the Oilers' chance of bringing in another star player, which is necessary to win the cup, because he wants to play a few regular season games, then he's out.
but all of the sheep in here think this is a ploy by the team, lol. Kane is Kane. Self-centered pos who has worn out his welcome and is deliberately handicapping the team

Even if Kane plays ball, the Oilers likely have to trade him next summer no matter what. So it's one of those things where maybe you just do it now as part of a deadline deal to get it over with.

I've crunched next year's cap numbers, we basically can't have Kane on the cap. Probably even Arvidsson or Henrique needs to go in the summer also.

I wonder if this was just the standard submission at the beginning of the season or if they recently asked him to submit a new list…
I'm pretty sure this is a brand new list and he's not really given a list before. His full NMC just switched over to a 16 team list today, I think. It's standard that he gives the list when this flips over. It doesn't necessarily mean he's going to get traded for sure.

So- what you are saying is - Kane is doing Kane things?

I remember last year he was bitching about his minutes during the Oilers 16 game winning streak. He seems like a good dude off the ice with his charity work- but on the ice and the locker room cancer stuff drives me nuts. When you are an athlete, you are wired different- most players direct that positively while others have no idea how to control it.

Always reactive, never proactive.
I wanted him traded before the start of last season and everyone jumped down my throat. I said if we wait a year- an asset will have to be tied to him to move him. Here we are. Kane has a short shelf life. Not only that- he was a 33 year old with a ton of miles on that body- but Oilers fans feel in love with 2022 Kane and that's what he think he is- when in reality- that was an outlier.

He's deliberately holding up the team's TDL plans by not being clear on when he's going to return playing, and giving strong indications that he wants to come back prior to the regular season ending, thus killing our ability to utilize 5mil in cap space.

Exactly on point about the minutes thing. I don't think we're ever going to see a motivated and selfless version of Kane on this team ever again. He's likely not playing top 6 minutes again. I honestly think he puts himself over winning 100%

Get rid of Kane, Skinner, Arvidsson, RNH. Get Alex Tuch and a G
I don’t think anyone is taking Kane’s contract for a year without seeing if he can play, and if it’s an eat cap only move, we don’t have the first that’s usually required. Not only that, the Oilers should be giving up assets to add players not remove them.

I bet you it's really a 13 team list. He has put teams on there he knows do not want him. He did the same thing to San Jose- when they asked him for his 3 team list. He put Winnipeg, Buffalo, and Vegas. I bet this list has Winnipeg, Buffalo, San Jose, the Pacific conference teams competing with the Oilers, the avs, etc. Kane's loyalty has always been to Kane. The signing was stupid, the NTC was stupid, and the dollar amount was stupid. Holland going to Holland though

100%. I said the exact thing several years ago. Kane is always about Kane

Even if he’s right on the poor team play around the net.

I dont think it matters if he can play. Whichever team trades for him this year will give him a trial run, if he sucks- they'll buy out his last year this summer

What about his shit play? Kicking rebounds right into the slot, getting beat from distance by Nate f***ing Schmidt. He said every shot scored on him in the Panthers game would have beat most goalies. Bitch, your dead last in goals saved above expected

I think the signing was good, but maybe the term was a bit too long. Also, who knows what happens if he didnt get hurt in the playoffs last season. If there is a good chance we get 2022 Kane again, then you keep him because the team really needs him. But I think there's serious doubt based on his past attitude and now health concerns.

The best thing to happen is he sits out the full season, we use his cap, and he comes back and plays effective playoff hockey with us.

He'll be bought out most likely. It's only a 1.3 mill cap penalty (x2 years), for teams that are going to be like 20 million under the cap floor next year it's not a big deal. 95.5 mill and then like 100+ million cap roof coming up.
