That’s the whole point.
Nobody is saying Sid is going to the Avs but now Avs got the trade capitals for a Sid trade after the Rantanen deal. It is more likely than say before the Rantanen trade.
He is going to wait till the team is healthy and rested(after 4 Nations) to see what’s need to be done.
Honestly, I don’t think he is going Big Fish hunting at TDL.

Crosby want to finish his carreer in Pittsburgh like he said all year long, i don't kmow why Rantanen trade should change anything for Crosby? That's doesn't make it more likely to happen...
I don’t think things have changed at all personally in terms of the likelihood of a Crosby trade. Every single report we’ve gotten has indicated that Crosby isn’t available and has no interest in leaving the Pens. Beyond that, I don’t think a 2nd and a 4th meaningfully change Colorado’s assets ability to make a Crosby deal because a) I don’t think they’d be what the Pens would be eyeing in return for Sid, and b) if Crosby told them he wanted to move on and be traded to Colorado the Pens would work with the Avs to figure out how to make it work
You are literally stating something that can change. What myself and others are saying the possibility is higher due to Avs having cap room and assets like Necas.
None of us are stating it is 100% certain Sid is leaving Pens.
Also just bc Sid is traded, it doesn’t mean he won’t finish his career with the Pens.
Wonder will your opinion change if Sid is being linked to the Leafs.

If the pens were trading Crosby it’s end of the line. Taking back Necas makes no sense for them at that point imo. They would be tearing it all down

Rantanen be traded and Crosby still don't have any interest of moving out of Pittsburgh = chance to be moving at 0%
Rantanen changing absolutly nothing except making fan crazy with some fantasy story. Crosby would not having more interest to move because Necas would be a part of the deal.
But the chance for a petterson or Miller can become better, that's scenario is much more realistic than Crosby
Necas is someone who is expandable and good enough as the main piece for a Sid trade. A piece that Avs didn’t have before the Rantanen trade.
I really don’t understand why Sid won’t think, let’s win another Cup before I retired. Imagine Sid said, get me to Vegas or Avs this TDL, but if I win a Cup with that team, that team needs to trade me back to Pens. Let the teams work out the players…. How is that not a good idea?
Why is it so hard to just acknowledge that there is a chance instead of flat out saying it won’t happen.
On one hand Hockey fans in general wants more excitement and buzz like blockbuster trades while at the same time they shut down any ideas of top players moving teams.

Player are human with family, is friend life and everything are. Let everything behind and go for a new challenge or whatever is not for everybody. It is really hard to acknowledge than the guy just don't want to leave the city where he was living last 19, who drafted him and where he would certainly had a chair wide open in front office after his player carreer if he want.

Crosby will play where he wants to play.
If he's fine with his cruise to retirement with the Penguins, they'll give him that option.

I think being the pens all time leading scorer is more important to him now than a 10% chance at winning a cup.

I don't see a huge move either. I would like to see another d brought in and I won't pretend to ignore
A) Nashville on the outside looking in
B) How good Schenner and Riles looked last year together.
C) The fact Schenn probably should have been re-signed.
D) Rielly has looked like dogshit this season but is signed long term at a decent cap. A partner he has looked great with may go a long way to fixing that in time for the games that matter.
Assuming of course he wants to come back, I'm sure you can guess who I want back.
I also think marner had to be signed before 4 nations

What are reported dollar numbers being discussed?
If we want to make a big splash move the two routes I see are
getting Marner to waive his NMC and doing a rantanen style deal with shake up of core done
Or Knies + Minten/Cowan + 1st + cap dump (kampf or jarnkrok) for an elite superstar player to add to the team.
I dont see any other moves being significant enough to make up for the core 4 flaws + depth flaws on the team. Other moved would be rental adds that don't likely help us much

No numbers yet but Byfield got $6.25 x 5. He broke out a year earlier and has a different draft pedigree but there are similarities. Now we don't know if the agents for these lesser lights are pointing at the growing cap and grinding for "their share". I think Knies is a $5M player to lock up but I don't know if he agrees. His agent is Matt Federico who isn't with one of the robber baron firms so you can't don't automatically expect Tre to get railed on another deal but it might come down to how hard he finishes the season. He is the type of player you want to keep but to get a certain level of talent (and age) requires you part with something more precious than a late 1st.
I think its far more likely Marner is re-signed than dealt (actually zero chance dealt). I could see a future where the next GM and Prez convince one of the big 3 to waive because they still aren't winning jack but that has to be a ways away. The club doesn't need another star forward. If they were emptying the cupboards I think it would be for a D man but how often are top pairing D moved?
I don't think the club has a big splash in them. They are 7th overall in spite of some significant injuries so no urgency. A Rantanen move would have been Willie last season. A Mitch move would have had to start in the summer after the "everything is on the table" speech.
This playoff is the Dubas/Shanaplan's last hurrah. I don't think they rent but it is likely to be a two year player that doesn't knock your socks off.

I wouldn't bet on either of those options happening. Tre is a conservative GM, who will make conservative choices (unless hes absolutely forced into something like what happened in Calgary)
Personally I'm in favor of locking in Knies on a longer term deal before the the cap begins to rise too much. Power forwards get inflated salaries, and the more proven he gets the higher that number will be. Even if it means potentially offering him in the 6-7 mil range it will result in savings pretty soon
