He can't be placed on waivers, full NMC.

Yes, true.

Even in the buy out scenario, he can opt to skip the waiver process and skip directly to being bought out.

I'm really hoping he will consent to a trade to SEA/CGY/VAN/LAK, even if we're retaining 1-2.5M range on him, it's still less dead money on the books for less time.

A guy that looks like a suitable cap dump is Burakovsky on Seattle.

Domi-Gourde-Tanev would be a nice third line. If Domi cant produce with those two then move him in the summer.

Domi has more points than those guys... The guys he currently plays with, Robertson and McMann, have more points combined than Gourde and Tanev combined. That's not an offensive upgrade.

More concerned with having a proper two way third line that hits.

Some are speculating gourde to return a 1st, but there may not be enough demand to warrant. Also, depends whether bubble teams would bid.

So CAR and NYR are rumored to be in on JT Miller

Next up do WSH/DAL/LAK need a centre? Honestly, no.

Is Gourde a 2C? No, so I don't think WPG bothers with him, nor would Carolina.

I would add damn near anything within reason.

Why would they want Robertson though? Olofsson has been good and Holtz has been a disappointment offensively but they seem fairly okay.
I know we've both been clamoring for Kaeden since last season, I'm with you in that I would be comfortable adding to Robertson to make this happen.

Acquiring Krebs and Korczak would be a nice little trade deadline!

Knies - Matthews - Domi
McMann - Tavares - Marner
Pacioretty - Krebs - Nylander
Lorentz - Kampf - Dewar

McCabe - Tanev
Rielly - Korczak
Ekman Larsson - Timmins

Stolarz - Woll

Hahaha strike for years. Dreaming. There is no other league with the money to pay them

The issue is nobody is forcing GMs to give out nmcs or long term deals. Teams are willing participants in all this.

Regardless to get the PA to consider giving them up (which I doubt would ever happen), the league would have to offer up something massive, like cutting ELC/RFA status period in half, and even then I doubt the players would agree..

I could see a world where the owners give up the cap in favor of non-guaranteed contracts.

I'd see if anyone takes Jarnkrok at full pop once he is deemed fully healthy. We have plenty of defensive guys in the bottom 6, we need a little more scoring. There's absolutely no need for Jarnkrok and his cap hit on our team.

Korczak can replace timmins still need someone in the top 4 though

They aren't playing him and can't send him down without waivers.

Holtz sucks

I would give them Robertson and Hildeby for Korczak and a very small plus like a 7th since we lack one.

I think he's gone in the off-season

I've been doing some mocks in Puckpedia around Benning and Jarnkrok for a 4th round pick, after July 1st. We pay out the bonus on Jarnkrok and I think he's like 775k real cash which would appeal to most owners.

Trotz is very familiar with Jarnkrok, they want character guys and Benning was also a Pred at one point that can do 6th-7th defenseman duties.

Dewer & a mid round pick for Brandon Tanev @50% could make sense. Seattle gets a downgrade that's younger with term control (RFA).

Pick could even be a 1st if Gourde @25% is included as well (3rd party retention).

These trades could occur between during the season and off-season but here we go, I think SEA/LAK/VAN/CGY are the Leafs only hope for Rielly waiving (parents are in BC) or we're going the buy out route. I went with a Seattle trade and Rielly having some retention.

I am expecting massive push back on the Buffalo trade...but I have some injury concerns already, he needs to play physical and keeps getting hurt during contact apparently. The exception to this would be the Sam Bennett cheap shot.

We're not buying out Morgan Rielly, dude isn't THAT bad, come on now. There's a market out there for the player without having to retain, whether Rielly would waive is a different story. Talk of a buyout is total nonsense.

Gourde, Yanni $5,166,666 (50% - $2,583,333)
Tanev, Brandon $3,500,000 (50% - $1,750,000)
Oleksiak, Jamie $4,600,000 (50% - $2,300,000)
$6,633,333
for
Domi ($3,750,000)
Jarnkrok, Calle ($2,100,000) (Waive Reaves & Timmons if needed)
Robertson ($875,000)
Cowan or Minten
2026 1st
$6,725,000
----------------------------------------------------------
Knies Matthews Marner
McMann Tavares Nylander
Pac Gourde Tanev
Lorentz Kampf Dewar

McCabe Tanev
OEL Oleksiak
Rielly Benoit

Dream deadline:

Domi+Timmins+25 3rd+26 3rd for Schenn (50% retained)+Jankowski
Kampf for Bastian
Robertson for Korczak
Cowan+26 1st+Dewar(cap)+25 2nd for Cozens

Knies-Matthews-Marner (best line this season)
Pacioretty-Cozens-Nylander
McMann-Tavares-Jarnkrok (dominant last season)
Lorentz-Jankowski-Bastian (all 3 are 6'4)

McCabe-Tanev
Rielly-Schenn
OEL-Korczak
Benoit

Woll
Stolarz

Reaves+Myers waived (200k cap hit)

This roster would be 650k under the cap. 750k if they moved Benning.

Cozens what would be your offer.
Cowen Robertson 1st 2026
You would need to create cap spaces well.
Kampf John Jamcrok

JT this means that JT won't be signed considering Knies needs to be signed

You hope that Cozens will be like other buffalo players that have left.
If you move Kampf or Jarn I think you can resign JT for the right number (and I don't mean the fantasy $5M some are throwing around.) but you can't be paying $1M players $2-$3M anymore.

Cozens is a gamble. I was listening to a Buffalo sports jock the other day. They were interviewing him about the Bills and grilled the guy a bit about Cozens and some other stuff. He says yes the guy is definitely on the market and that his value is down. The biggest roadblock is after dealing Eichel and Reinhart the GM is kind of running on fumes and ownership may be leary about letting him play some more. Now he has hit it with Tuch and Thompson so not a total schlep so.... who knows?

Anyways he said Cozens hasn't been the same guy since he got kayoed in a fight with Hathaway. Does that mean concussed, gun shy, worried his team won't have his back? I think he mostly needs a change of venue but he will be closer to a young JT than a young ROR.

As far as Knies expectations thats a concern for me. Tre has not shown himself to be an astute negotiator so far. If the club get rolled by both Knies and Marner that really puts them in a jam. They only way they can afford all these $11M+ guys is at the expense of the other positions so Tre has to stop bending over at some point, and they will have room for some not quite elite guys too. I like Knies a lot but if he wants to squeeze like the stars do, he is more valuable as a trade chip.
