Trades & Free Agency Thread: 2024-2025 Season Edition

Andersson for Cowan + 2026 1st + Jarnkrok
I wonder if Flames would rather have Minten.

I would think he could be groomed to replace 35 year old Backlund.

My guess is they would have to be absolutely blown away to trade their 24 minute a game defender.

I know we can dream.

Noah Dobson I can see multiple 1st. rounders with top prospect(s) involved.

Would Rielly consider waiving for Calgary considering his parents are in BC?

Rielly for Sherongovich 1 for 1
Rielly, 1st and Cowan for Andersson....not sure if there is an add there from Calgary.

Like it or not Reilly is a big part of this core, he wouldn’t even consider being moved until the offseason if anything

I don't see him waiving for anywhere, unless the ties to his family in Vancouver are extremely strong.

I think Leafs Canucks would be decent trading partners, but not with the NMC's.

Who am I going to blame for all the goals going in if they trade Rielly?

I've been a fan of this team for a quarter century - and on these boards about as long, and I don't remember a single season where the fanbase did not single out 1 dman to hate on. Murphy, Lumme, Phaneuf, Berg, Mccabe, Holl etc etc. There always has to be 1 guy on D taking all the heat. It's the law of the land.

Yeah Boston aren't doing that and I'm a fan of Marner’s

I've read the Bruins board a little earlier this year and their sentiment on the guy turned pretty negative, similar to Morgan here. Maybe it changed back though.

Not to mention he just had a baby and Tessa Virtue is a Toronto girl .. I can't see him waiving at this point.

Happy to see more and more are on board with moving Reilly, Vancouver makes a lot of sense as does Anaheim, close enough to home and nice weather

Yeah but you have to consider that picking on a defenseman is not the product of a psychopathic fanbase that doesn’t know better… defense is a weak link business and guys prone to making mistakes under pressure become points of failure that draw the ire of the fanbase.

Put it another way. In your quarter century of watching we never had a championship blueline that didn’t deserve criticism when the season inevitably came crashing down.

I'll add Kaberle to that list and he's easily in the top 10 if not top 5 of Leaf greatest damn and yet he was constantly scrutinized here, oddly enough how perfect would he be right now on this blue line

Yeah I think Kaberle had the same amount of heat as Rielly over the years. Seen as not quite physical and 200 feet enough compared to the Rob Blake’s of the world, finishing piece franchise defensemen type.

Except Kaberle had the brains and vision that Reilly could only dream of.

Been watching the Leafs since 91 and I fully agree with you. There must always be a d man this fanbase wants to be rid of.
