IF Cozens were available and acquired, I still don’t think the endgame should be moving JT to the wing.

Matthews
Cozens
Tavares

Down the middle.
Put Domi and Knies with Matthews
Put McMann and Nylander with Cozens
Put Pacioretty and Marner with JT

Or something like this. Not married to the specifics

You’re going to be paying a premium for Cozens, and I’m fine with that. You’re probably looking at Cowan, 1st and a roster player.

Ryan Reaves? ;)
I was thinking one of Dewar, Holmberg or Robertson. But Reaves would definitely work as well lol.

I still think it will get to the point where Reaves receives the Simmonds treatment where he gets waived but sticks around the big club.

Don’t we have a 23 man roster right now? Don’t we only technically need 20?

20 man roster come with disadvantage like get an injury last minute on the road, you're in trouble... you cant keep your depht because most of them need to go on waiver...

Dubas used it all the time of most of the time it was pretty trash...

2- Do a 7,1M 3rd line center is really how leafs need to use their money...

Funny enough, if you move Kampf and Robertson, demote or trade Reaves, run a 21 man roster, it actually works. Also Hakanpaa and Jarnkrok either LTIR, or traded.

Note, that is Cozens on the roster. I ran the numbers just to see, not that I think it's realistic.
I was thinking about it long to medium term rather than just this season, this season is a b***h but next season looked brutal

Even with a sizable cap jump

This is why I proposed Tuch at 50% + Krebs. Combined they would be 3.825 M this year and next.
There should be another major cap jump after next year.

Just not sure how much this would cost.

But Cozens at 7.1 long-term seems quite a problem and the Sabres are not going to give up someone signed long-term easily.

I’m a believer that the powerplay should be split, so I think under that consideration it’d be easy enough to get someone who can help. But obviously unless they go to a split unit it’s a taller task
I am with you 100% on that.
What I didn’t like about Keefe was the fact that nomatter how bad the PP was, he never even tried to split the unit.

the JT-Nylander-Marner- Knies-Riwelly unit worked pretty well when Matthews was hurt

Why not try to create something else with Matthews alongside exeemple domi- OEL- Pacioretty- Robertson
