Would love to trade Reilly for Fox from the Rangers. Could pair Oel with him. That's a complete pipe dream though, would never happen. We'd need to add way to much.
correct. And they aren't rebuilding. Could probably get Kreider but doubt we'd want that. Maybe Trockeck but I think there are just as good if not better targets that fit our need and won't cost that much.

Well, the common denominator seems to be Rielly is a problem that needs to be duct taped every year.

Seems to me it's quite the opposite. The problem is we lose Rielly's partners every year, maybe because he makes them look more competent/expensive than they are.

It should be far easier to find another Schenn/Bush on the market than to find a RHD version of Morgan.

In the Rielly era, this team has always relied on strength by committee on that blueline. Its odd that we finally went and got what should be a sterling example of a partner for him only for Rielly to struggle. I love Rielly but we need to consider him as a partner-dependent #3 rather than a #1D, and one who oddly struggles to mesh with many partners.

One player I can see benefiting playing in a Berube system is Josh Anderson. If Montreal (or another team) was willing to retain 2 million, I’d be interested in him. McMann - Domi - Anderson would be such a pain in the ass to play against.

A player who come to play once every 7-8 game, i dont know how those kind of player could benefit of anyrhing from any coach...

Winger is not our prime need... why waste assets on it?

Honestly.....do you follow the Leafs?

Knies
McMann
Robertson
Pacioretty
Lorentz
Grebenkin
Steeves

6 of those 7 LW can play in the top 9.

Who is the Leafs 3rd line C?
I wouldn’t want to see Grebenkin or Steeves in the top 9 of a playoff team this year but if you are can probably add Domi to the list. Especially if you are adding a 3C

Again, this is a false narrative. He meshes fine with any RHD stay at home dman, regardless of their pedigree.

Morgan is responsible for his own level of play and it’s always wildly unpredictable. He’s gotta go by most hockey considerations but will probably be here for a while due to his contractual protection.

I see one second liner, two third liners, a fourth liner and two marlies. Robertson is probably not part of our plans despite his 2 game hot streak, and we'd be braindead to bank on Patches staying healthy.

So yeah, that's thin.

Vatrano
Knies
McMann
Patches/Lorentz

Isn't that better? shocker, but contenders usually have top 6 talent in their top 6. I guess we just accept what we get here in Leafland

The priority should be:
center who can score> LW who can score>>>low event but competent center

the first option will absolutely be the most difficult and prohibitively expensive.

Literally our most consistent and reliable playoff preformer. Made Schenn and Bush look like top-shelf shutdown dmen.

Let's kick him to the curb because he hasn't found chemistry with Conor Timmins.

Rielly is just a warrior for me. He's low maintenance, took a solid deal to be here long-term and always plays very well in the post-season. He's got his bad games and he's not perfect but the amount of crap he takes is too much sometimes. I'm sure he'll be here for probably awhile, if not the rest of his career. He's the least of my worries.

I've never been his biggest supporter, but I'd actually like to see Steeves get put in a position in the top 9 to see what he can do. He's got 23 points in 16 games at the AHL level. He might surprise, and show some value, even if it's to trade.

It's not like it's a mystery as to who works with him either... Stay at home, preferably physical, and can skate. That's it... let Mo do the rest of the work, just clear the net, lay some bodies, be good positionally, and be the guy who covers for Mo. There are a few guys around the league that fit the bill on losing teams. Next time, don't let someone who works go.

do you really need a top tier winger to play alongside exemple tavares and nylander or matthews abd marner by exemple? if its the case, why are they paying that high for those player?

contender/ great player make look depht player better like top 6 player

palat in tampa
Lehkonen in Colorado
barbashev in vegas

You need complementary piece for what you have and for me, Vatrano is not a good complementary piece for what leafs already have...

Steeves is someone I hope gets another call down the stretch. He showed some good stuff in his last call-up in terms of being physical and forechecking. It might take an injury to happen but if the Leafs give Robertson his fresh start, I think Steeves as depth would work.

I would have loved to keep Lyubushkin but he signed for a lot more than he's capable of. Same for Schenn the year before. Treliving tried to keep em both but sometimes they take the money.

It worked out because the Leafs were able to get Tanev and OEL, who I think have been far better.

I’m warming up to the idea of Krebs more and more.

I wonder if the Leafs target Krebs and someone like Hathaway.

Knies - Matthews - Domi
Pacioretty - Tavares - Marner
McMann - Krebs - Nylander
Lorentz - Kampf - Hathaway

Totally agree. The guy isn’t a superstar, but he truly bleeds blue & white. It would hurt to see him in another jersey.

Ya... those guys should send half of their paychecks to Mo... He made them look good... as they did he as well... but without Mo, they aren't that good.

i think how depht will react with everyone coming back healthy will determine where eafs going at TDL

-savard should be great target for rielly
-Cole even if he LHD, could be an interesting one too
-Longshot maybe a Vincent Desharnais but did he really deserve his contract?!?!

At C Nelson probably out of reach so gourde is the perfect fit for me...

If leafs are fine with Domi as 3c and Minten as back up in case of injury, they're some option on wing
