Minten what he created offensively is because hes driving the net and pretty high IQ not because of his skill set.
Right now he's showing he's smart enough to play in NHL. hes at the right place at the right time of doing his think in the NHL level.
I don't think in his case playingg pp time against worst matchup will have more impact than playing at top speed in the NHL and learn from it. Its helpful when the play going too fast for you and give you a chance to adapt ay AHL level. But its not thw case here, Minten see the play pretty well and NHL don't look too fast at all for him
If Toronto find a better option but right now, no reason to remove him of line up
Agreed, kinda reminds me of when the Avs inserted Ryan O'Reilly into the lineup after a VERY short CHL career where he scored less than a PPG in the OHL. Why? Because he was smart and physically ready, even if he didn't dominate the CHL.
O'Reilly himself could've maybe benefited from another year or 2 in the OHL but he was needed by Colorado at the time, kinda like Minten, and then went on to eventually be a captain and Stanley Cup champion, he did all right for himself.
If the Leafs were getting any production from Robertson/Holmberg/Domi ... and I mean, ANY production, then I'd be less anxious to be giving Minten a shot on the 3rd line, but he's scoring goals, he's making himself visible out there on the forcheck and crashing the net. No way he should be coming out of the lineup the way he's going
