Salary cap aside, I take Kampf over Dewar as the 4C any day. Not sure what people see in Dewar besides being a fringe undersized NHLer.

Unfortunately you can't just excuse the salary cap. It's one of the biggest factors in building a proper team.

He's about the same player for a fraction of the cap.

If hypothetically and extremely unlikely we were to ever land Jiricek. Would he play for us right now? He would be better than Timmins right?

Probably not? Fabbro was just picked up on waivers and has been playing 21+ minutes a night for Columbus. If he can't get into the Blue Jackets lineup over multiple seasons, not sure he'd be a player that gets in our lineup.

For everyone who talking about making a move for Jiricek, do you really know why Columbus looking to kove him? The kid just dowsn't accept to play in a team system...

Do you really think than a team whos looking for playoff succes will have any interest in a player who can't play in team?!?!?!

Both low event low offense 4th liners. One is better on draws, the other is a lot more physical. I would say they are similar in the role they play. The big difference is 1.3M in salary.
You certainly want a Kampf over Dewar manning the 4the line. The salary is significant at over twice as much, 2.4 is a lot, but somehow it seems pretty difficult to replace Kampf for much cheaper. It would mean downgrading the fourth line to upgrade elsewhere, and that could work too.

Bjugstad might be a good 3C option, if we don't feel Minten is ready. He's a UFA, Utah is struggling, his contract is just $2.1 mil, so he's easy to fit in cap wise... shouldn't cost too much. Big C, physical, has put up points when put in a position to do so. Is at 0.46 PPG this year in 13 games, which is better than guys like Gourde, Laughton... Utah does much better when he's on the ice, than off... It might be a good cheaper option.
Jarnkrok+pick for Bjugstad.

Everyone is as good as Kampf.... until they have to do his job. They always fail.
Not sure what that means but Kampf has not been a success at all lol

Difficult to replace in what way? What exactly is so hard to replace? I'm very confused here but maybe I'm missing something.

Opinions will always be different so it's probably an agree to disagree thing here but in the last week of Kampf being out of the lineup I can't say I ever thought to myself "Man, I miss Kampf here".

Just wish Dewar was better on face-offs, Lorentz is good at them but doesn't seem to take them much.

I think we can utilize the 2.4M much better but I left last night's game thinking we need to bolster the top 9.

A very good 3C is a need, maybe even a winger, not sure about what we have at wing.

Defense...Hakanpaa played 2 games and hasn't really played since...is his knee cooked? If so, we might want a defenseman.

Kampf isn't going anywhere this season. Nor is Jarnkrok.

We can use both of these guys.

If either of them is dealt it will be after they collect their signing bonus in the off-season and to a team more concerned with real dollars than the Leafs.

Kampf is due a signing bonus on July 1st of 1.33M and after that is owed a total of 3.5M for two seasons of play so a 1.75M salary per season vs his cap hit of 2.4M.

Kampf isn't going anywhere this season, mostly because of his limited NTC (wild that he got one) and his zero value. And that's fine, he's alright on the fourth line. But they definitely should dump his contract as soon as they can in the off-season. Jarnkrok isn't getting traded while on LTIR.

Leafs can get creative to bolster their 3rd line further without having to disrupt their lineup.

This off-season might be able to get him over to New Jersey, there is room on their 4th line at that point but the return will be minimal, maybe a 2026 7th.

Not sure if this is what Kyper accurately said but it makes sense. Hildeby and AA probably would be very good value for retooling/rebuilding teams. Considering our assets, we might not have much of a choice if we want to improve the roster.

I imagine the guy that will be traded is Matt Murray, not the other two.

Murray has no value, the other 2 do. It depends entirely on the goal of the trade for either team. If the other team just want a stop gap veteran, Murray for free makes sense. If the Leafs want to improve, they may have to trade a young asset.

I suppose it depends on what you are getting back. I'd hate to do the Pogge/Rask thing again though.

The thought of trading a goalie is terrifying

Would prefer not to do this. Goaltending is fickle, and goalies can fall apart at any moment, especially past age 30 like Stolarz or an injury prone guy like Woll. You also want to avoid another Rask/Pogge scenario.
