Oh dear God, are we really going to spend the next 3 years reading trade proposals for Crosby because some Toronto media talking head made a random comment that had no merit or substance?

Please tell me it ain’t so…..
If Crosby were to want to finish his career elsewhere, I would think he would pick the Habs. He grew up as a hard core Habs fan.

The only way he would choose our Leafs, is if he wanted to show a middle finger to Dubas.

JMHO.

I wouldn't think he would leave one rebuild for another.
IMO, 99% he goes no where. If he does leave, Colorado would be top of his list.

and people are speculating on it, as if it would get done as a market value trade. Look, there is a 1% chance at best Crosby doesn't retire a Penguin. If he doesn't retire as a Penguin, it's because HE asks to move. If HE asks to move, they are doing him a solid, and moving him, to where he wants to go. Dubas is in no position to ask for maximum value under such a scenario. He'd cost valuable pieces no doubt, but any trade is more about respecting Crosby's wishes, than a franchise altering haul of futures. Any trade to move Crosby, is about Crosby's wishes, not the return... in any case, as much fun as Crosby addition to the Leafs is... It's just a fantasy.

Malkin is a much more likely target to move, IMO.

I would not be the least bit shocked, if Malkin "retires" after this year, and goes to play in the KHL for a couple of years. He's made enough money, and if the team isn't going anywhere, why bother? Would he want to move? Doubt it... if the team isn't going anywhere, I'll speculate he goes home.

I mean, to be fair, we'll be hearing about for the next three years just because it's a perfect storm

One of the greatest players of all time, at the end of his career as his team enters a rebuild, comes home to Canada, to a top contending team, one of the most storied franchises in the sport, desperate to kill their drought by any means as their window starts to close.

These talking heads are salivating at the idea and fans (on both sides of the argument) are hyper aware of the narrative.

With the whole war thing happening and how he left for the NHL...would it be wise?

If it were any other time in history, easy yes. Kuznetsov put in his time down in the KHL before coming over.

I'd say your scenario is more likely than him being traded though.

Wanting to play with Mackinnon in Colorado makes way more sense than the Leafs if he wants another chance at winning. The are extremely close and saw them both together in a Tim Hortons when we were in St. John’s this past August.
We can and I will ;)
Well played sir. I LOL’d.
