6'1 is too small?Evans is too small.... better to leave the spot open for Minten.
And Minten isn't ready for this year, if you can clear Kampf, Evans would be a nice addition.

Hagel is still a vastly superior player to Knies and if he becomes the Hagel he is in Tampa we win that deal
Ideally if we had acquired Hagel, a 80-90 pt winger for our team and we deal Marner for a package of prospects/picks or a top pairing RHD that is under 30
Happy with Knies, but he isnt going to be Hagel level good.
PWD usually arent going to be more valuable than Hagel who is trending to be a nylander type level producer.Maybe, maybe not..
Knies has leapfrogged Hagels development when they were at similar ages. I wouldn't put a ceiling on Knies just yet
I think they're going to see what's up with Minten pretty quick.6'1 is too small?

He’d definitely help solidify us at C and bring much needed secondary production which appears to remain an issue for us. A lot of teams will be after him if available I would imagine.

Just going by the following information on the Forecaster website... 6-0, 176 and "smallish but speedy"...6'1 is too small?

Just let him be down there until his play says he should be considered.I think they're going to see what's up with Minten pretty quick.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him with the big club in the next 15 games.
Fair enough but I think we need another Solid C.Just let him be down there until his play says he should be considered.
It's his first year as a pro, and he's coming off an injury, so just let him cook down there. Honestly, the team shouldn't need him anyway.
His highest value was immediately after being drafted and even then he was only worth a second round pick.
Too fragile he's a certified band-aid boy. Even when healthy he only has one trick. And he's not even very good at that one trick.
There's lots and lots of guys who can score 15-20 goals a year while adding very little value anywhere else.
A disgruntled player who isn't performing well and has a history of injuries isn't usually a hot commodity. That's not to say the Leafs won't be able to trade him. But if they want something back in return other than another team's reclamation project someone else might need to be added to any trade involving Robertson.
At this point he's either waiver bait or a cap dump for future considerations.
Report: Avalanche Scouring Trade Market For Forward Help
Just as the Avalanche were wrapping up a 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on home ice, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman released his 32 Thoughts blog. In one of his points, he highlighted that the Avalanche are looking to add a forward. The Avs played without six of their top 10 forwards...coloradohockeynow.com
Gabriel Landeskog remains out with no timetable.
Valeri Nichushkin is still suspended and isn’t eligible to be reinstated until Nov. 13.
Jonathan Drouin is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, although it’s still unclear when he’ll be back. Drouin has not played since opening night.
Artturi Lehkonen, who has not yet played this season, is aiming to return next Tuesday at home against the Seattle Kraken.
It’s anybody’s guess who the Avs could be targeting. This is purely speculation, but one name that instantly came to mind was Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nicholas Robertson. The younger brother of Dallas center Jason Robertson can’t seem to find a permanent role under new Leafs coach Craig Berube. He has one goal in nine games this season but scored 14 goals and added 13 assists in 56 games in 2023-24.
If the Avs were to trade for Robertson, it would be with the idea in mind that they’re strictly looking for offensive help. Robertson, a smaller forward, isn’t known for strong two-way play. But if he gets an opportunity with talented linemates, he could take off offensively.
Robertson, 23, is on a one-year deal paying him $875,000. He’ll be a restricted free agent after the season. Given the low cap hit, he might be a worthy gamble for general manager Chris MacFarland.
I'd think they would take a 2nd for Robertson in a heartbeat if it was on the table. We're just really bad trading partners. The only thing that can work is if they trade their 2nd for Robertson. I'm not sure the Leafs will want a simple pick though.
If anything, his value was probably at its peak in summer 2020.
He was "worth" a 2nd round pick when drafted, coming off a season that he put up 27 goals, 28 assists in 54 games.
A year later, he was coming off a season where he put up 55 goals and 31 assists in 46 games. The next best scorer on his team was a 20 year old who had 33 goals, and played 13 more games.
Heck, from a league-wide perspective, the next top scorers were:
- Jack Quinn (52 goals in 62 games), who would go 8th overall that summer.
- Connor McMichael (47 goals in 52 games), who went 25th overall the same draft as Robertson.
He was scoring 1.2 goals per game -- more than 20% more than any other player in the league.
If that wasn't enough, he came into the bubble, and had a very reasonable showing despite also being off due to COVID.
To suggest that he couldn't have garnered a 1st round pick or more that summer, I don't think is at all a reasonable asssessment.
As for what to do now, as other posters have mentioned, it's a similar situation to Timothy Liljegren... you've gotta find a team that believes in his upside... probably not a great team unless it's Dallas, and in a perfect world, they'd be willing to part with something that you actually need. In all likelihood, it's a draft pick or two.
It's also interesting to consider - Robertson was unable to garner himself an offer sheet (which would have been negligible compensation) this summer... does his preseason standout performance, plus the effect of "I dont like offer sheets" get him able to establish some value?
I’m probably in the minority, but I think the team could use an infusion of RH shot players.
Tomasino is interesting, but likely goes from one dog house to another.
Evans having wheels is a good fit too.
Not sure who else?
Thinking about NickRob, worth pointing out that he’s playing his off wing. I haven’t minded his two way game at all, I think he’s been fine. Also worth pointing out that when he was filling the net in junior, his C was RH Semyon Der Arguchintsev.
The Leafs should really look at moving Woll at near peak value. His GSAx/60 since he entered the league is 15th (league average starter). He’s good but not great. It is very likely that this past summer was his peak value. He's still cheap and he has playoff pedigree. He would be a perfect fit for Colorado.
Woll+Robertson for Georgiev(50% retained)+Ritchie
Ritchie has real potential as a RS C to be a long term replacement for JT. He’s most likely going to be 1C for Canada at the WJC and he’ll be untouchable after that. I’m not sure if Colorado does this deal - they’d probably want McMann over Robertson which I’d still reluctantly do.
Georgiev expires this summer. The Leafs would take him as a back up at 1.7M. He’s not a solution to any problems but he’s been a capable back up in the past.
We're not yet sure if Stolarz can handle a starters workload, which in itself can separate a backup from a starter, and it's not usually a good idea to trade away a clutch playoff goalie. The Leafs should really look at moving Woll at near peak value. I like that you're thinking outside-of-the-box here. The only problem is that I would see the Avs asking for Easton Cowan with Woll. Maybe that's still a good trade though because we really need another high-end C for the future. The Leafs should really look at moving Woll at near peak value. I’d hope at 6-5-2 they’d be smart enough to look to look beyond this season. Assuming a Woll+McMann for Georgiev+Ritchie (assuming Colorado values him over Robertson), the Leafs are subtracting McMann from the playoff roster for a potential Tavares replacement as soon as next year. This is kind of a future trade for us... would management sacrifice downgrading the backup goalie substantially, and moving a now forward piece, for a really solid guy who might contribute in a year or two? I'm thinking that isn't where there heads are at to be honest... but if there was a way to pickup Ritchie....
I’d think Cowan and Ritchie have similar value and the gap between Woll and Georgiev is much larger.I like that you're thinking outside-of-the-box here.
