Personally i'd be going for McBain & Tolvanen plus maybe Tanev.....three guys that will give Florida or Tampa Bay a hard time.....and there all young besides obviously Tanev.

These three players retained would cost us 5M + 4.5M from C.Tanev

McBain

For

Domi
Reaves
Hirvonen
3rd round pick

Tolvanen(50% retained)

For

Jarnkrok
Timmins
Niemela
Kampf
1st round pick

Tanev(50% retained)

For

Dewar
5th round pick

Murphy(50% retained)

For

Myers
Mattinen
2nd round pick

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Tolvanen-Tavares-Nylander
McMann-McBain-Steeves
Robertson-Lorentz-Tanev
Holmberg-Pacioretty

Rielly-Murphy
McCabe-Tanev
Ekmam-Larsson-Hakanpaa
Benoit
What do you think Utah, Seattle and especially Chicago say?

I just don't understand the hesitation to trade "top" prospects or 1st round picks. The way these picks and prospects are untouchable, you would think they would be the next Makar or Kucherov etc.

Lot's of Tampa fans are assuming its Geekie going back the other way for Bjorkstrand and Gorude.

someone give me the toronto version of this deal, pls and thanks. Have no idea how good Geekie is other than he's a former top player

If Brayden Schenn is off the table and Gourde is off to Tampa Bay...that really just leaves Scott Laughton as the best Center on the market.

I'm not counting Brock Nelson because Lou is gonna Lou

Schenn
Laughton
Gourde

That was the order in which I think the leafs had interest in.

Minten probably is the closest we have to a Geekie? He has better draft pedigree but since turning pro they have similar stats. Basically 20 year old projected to be mid/low line centers.

I would have thought with only Gourde retention, no.

With both getting retained to varying degrees, yeah that is a conversation now.

I have often wished I could unload a garbage truck in exchange for a brinks full of gold.

False. Everyone, except you and your terrible predictions record, is saying for the Regular season. Tkachuk will be back for the playoffs.
Obviously it's just my opinion, but I think the next time we see Tkachuk in a game will be Florida's first elimination game, and he'll play 7 minutes and barely be able to skate.

I fully expect to see a tweet from the Islanders announcing a new contract for Nelson.
