What we know:

Price is a Jay. Norris is a Tiger.

What we don't know: the other pieces.

Jeff Blair just speculated a hitter might be coming back in this deal. Hadn't heard that before.

Think about prospect haul #Bluejays have given up for Reyes, Buehrle, Dickey, Donaldson, Tulo, Price. Wow. Going for it.

David Price is a huge acquisition, I'm not a fan of trading for rentals no matter what their name is. So I'm hopeful Price will re-sign. As I've said before, I can't see AA moving both Norris and Alford if he wasn't confident that he could re-sign Price.

He must have some confidence he could re-sign him. If not, he would have went after Cueto, who cost a lot less.

Why does it have to be Price?

Why can't it be another free agent starter?

If Price leaves, that doesn't automatically mean they get nobody.

Why not enjoy this right now and worry about what happens later?

I would hate to have seen what some of you would have been like back in 1992.

Carter, Winfield, Key, Cone, Maldonado and Henke were all pending free agents that season.

Price or someone else. Whatever.

I'm skeptical though as I haven't seen us sign a FA pitcher, a high end one, in years....

Not sure Jays can pay Scherzer type money for him... but then again, they do have Buehrle and Dickey coming off the books. Can you imagine having him in the rotation with Stroman/Hutch/Sanchez next season?

Think of the fact that we could have, for a full season next year if we re-sign Price

I have got to stop buying personalized jerseys. Schenn, Blake, Cujo (pre-Detroit), and now Norris. What a waste.

If you want to win, and you looked at that Blue Jays offense, why wouldn't you want to sign there if the money was there?

I bet he stays long term. Why not?

World class city? Check
Gonna get paid? Check
Contender for years w him? Check
Back in the ALE? Check

He can play with JD, Tulo, Jose and have Russ catch him. No other team can say that

David Price is 7-0 with a 3.86 ERA in nine career starts in Rogers Centre, his most wins without a loss at any stadium in MLB.

Bigger. Think Scherzer money. Think more than Scherzer money.

Besides, we landed the Rocket way back in FA.

Iirc the rocket revitalized his career here in Toronto, didn't he? Don't recall him being at the top of his game when we signed him

They didn't sign any because they traded for Buehrle, Josh Johnson and RA Dickey to add to the rotation that already included Romero, Morrow and Happ.

Dickey was the defending Cy Young winner. Johnson was seen as a front of the rotation type of starter and Buehrle had a big contract.

Just because it wasn't a free agent, doesn't mean they have never gone after high end pitching talent.
