Morris wasn't bad considering what we gave up for him.

I actually liked Antropov as a player. Thought he played pretty well for us and he added the size and scoring the team was really lacking up front. However, I didn't think that team had any business renting players for a playoff run, so it kind of negates the positives.

Agreed, I don't know what Antropov demanded but he should've been resigned if it was reasonable

lolz.

Gardiner is playing a lot better than Del Zotto this season. He's also controllable for two seasons beyond Del Zotto.

One of the two is playing his off side half the time in an idiotic system. Coincidentally, that guy had 3 seasons where his play and his production blew Gardiner's out of the water. Half a season doesn't negate the last four years, and based on careers to date, Gardiner is a joke of an offer in return for Del Zotto. There's your "lolz."

These are the facts:

Del Zotto has a cap-hit of $2.55 million. Gardiner 875K.

Both are RFAs this summer. It will be Gardiner's second contract, so he won't be able to command as much as Del Zotto.

Del Zotto is controllable for two more seasons, Gardiner four.

Given all that, Del Zotto would have to be playing a lot better than Gardiner to be worth more, let alone a first as well (again, lolz).

But he isn't. Gardiner is the best possession defenseman on the Leafs and he's not getting babies with offensive zone starts like Del Zotto.

Had Clowe remained healthy, I think he would have been a great addition to this team. I think he added a crucial element that we once again lack. It's a shame that he got concussed to end the season. Made him seem like a waste when in reality it had the potential to be a very beneficial trade for us (at least in terms of what he could have brought last season). I don't think we would have been man handled by Boston had he been healthy.

Agreed, I can trash Slats for a lot of reasons but Clowe was exactly what we needed. He had not had major concussion problems, and to my knowledge, "only" had one the season we got him. Then he gets two quick ones and now seems to have serious problems. Was probably worth the gamble...

The Coyotes are believed to be interested in New York Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi, though word around the League suggests the Rangers aren't willing to deal him at this point in the season, despite interest from multiple teams.

Maloney is also eyeing Florida forwards Scottie Upshall and Tomas Kopecky, both of whom the Panthers are willing to move, for the right price.

from Yotes id like: any one of these younger players in a deal: Samuelsson, Lessio, Brown, Murphy, Gromley, Szwarz for Girardi....

Guess on guys like Girardi and Callahan, Sather wants to see where the Rangers are at around the deadline?

Nah, that would mean he has a plan in place ;)

If we could grab Rundblad, and one more "A prospect" and/or a pick for Girardi, I'd do that and RUN

Leafs fans hate Gardiner. They've been ripping hard, and grouping him with Franson.

I think Gardiner and Del Zotto would both succeed if they were swapped. Gardiner did very well in Ron Wilson's system, which is much closer to AV's than Carlyle's, and the coaches have similar personalities. The same can be said about DZ in Torts' system.

Well the way it looks is Girardi is gunna end up being dealt and we should be getting a hefty return for him. 2 prospects and a pick? Yes please

I don't care that much what Leafs fans think of Gardiner, I still want to acquire him. Pair him with McDonagh, let them be the future top pair, trade Girardi. These are the type of moves the team should be making this year, trading for young NHL ready players who have a lot of potential. Next year:

McDonagh-Gardiner
Staal-Stralman
J.Moore/Allen-McIlrath

Despite being burned by Moore, Gardiner is a good defenseman. Can be a core piece going forward if AV is kept for the term of his deal. As already pointed out, Gardiner fits the AV style, DZ could flourish again with Carlyle.

The time to deal Girardi is now, not sure if Sather wants to wait for a bidding war at the deadline. The way things have been going, Girardi likely gets hurt between now and then. Also, from other than an economic perspective, even if the Rangers squeak into the playoffs, they won't be sticking around. If the deals are out there, explore them.. We're not winning a Cup this year IMO..
