idk if thats even enough, considering what we gave up and the way he's been playing. They wont trade Schenn though

Simmonds, Read,Couturier, 1st for Clowe and Burns

yeh like that'd happen haha

Flyers fan, coming in peace...I don't think Brayden Schenn is untouchable...I don't think we would consider trading Simmonds though. Also as far as the first, 1st this year may end up netting us Seth Jones, and the 2014 Draft is in Philly i'd assume they'd want to be active in the first round for that.

Read has the potential of a 30 goal/50 point scorer IMO. Couturier is likely available as well.

Would love to get Burns + but not for what your proposing. Maybe a 2nd in 2014, Coots, Read.

Would not do that. We have no way to replace Burns easily, has to be an overpayment. He's one of the few guys we shouldn't be trading, so if we are it needs to make sense. It needs to make some other piece expendable (who has high value) so that we can replace the hole losing Burns (and Boyle shortly) will create. Schenn makes one of Thornton/Pavelski expendable, Read just fills a hole. Couturier fills a hole right now, but doesn't replace anyone. The 1st might get us a new #1 in the draft, maybe. Lots of maybe's. I certainly get where you are coming from, I'm just saying it would have to be a slam dunk for us to consider it.

If, big if, we were trading Burns to Philly, I'd demand Couturier + 2013 first. I'd add Clowe too, if they wanted.

But that would never happen because Burns is going absolutely nowhere.

Absolutely, Couturier has not been that great thus far. Schenn is who I would target as my main piece, Schenn + Couturier is fine.

I much prefer Couturier to Schenn. Not only is Schenn (Brayden) a head-hunter, but he's basically untouchable because the Flyers acquired Luke.

This kind of stuff irks me, Flyers saying they want Brent Burns. Um, how about NO? You are not getting Brent Freaking Burns, a hybrid #1 dman AND first line forward. Everyone has a price? Okay, 3 firsts and Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds. And I'm not even kidding. SMH

Burns is about as untouchable as someone can be. People should expect nothing close to a serious response if they request him.

This is when I wish Doug Wilson would speak out and publicly comment on the insult that is asking for Burns (IMHO). Say something like "Yeah we'll move Burns for 3 firsts, Giroux and Simmonds" just to make them look ridiculous. (Or even just come out and say that the Sharks are interested in Giroux as a retort, i.e. you leak that you want our untouchable, we'll announce we want your untouchable to make a point and shut you up)

It's one thing if in totally private conversations Flyers call DW re: Burns, but it's another to make it public you are targeting an untouchable player.

Before I get chastised, I'll note that this isn't a Garroich or Eklund rumor, from what I see it's Flyers sources that they want Burns and the Philly media is running with it.

Burns is our best defenseman AND best forward. Ain't going anywhere, don't worry, folks.

I'm not worried, just don't appreciate the Flyers leaking that they want one of our untouchables.

Could you imagine how much the Sharks would get piled on if they leaked that they wanted Claude Giroux?

That's the issue. Not an issue of Burns actually getting dealt, it's leaking, publicly, that you want an untouchable. NEWS FLASH: Everyone wants Crosby, but nobody's getting him.

Do you have an actual Flyers source saying that they want Burns, or is it just mindless drivel from the talking heads?

I have this:

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/flyers/200161841.html

After Sharks GM Doug Wilson unloaded defenseman Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh on Monday, many pointed toward veteran blue liner Dan Boyle and linked him to the Flyers.

Turns out, Boyle was simply the red herring. Instead, the Flyers' brass wanted a closer look at Brent Burns, among others.

(Not to mention before this it was mentioned that Holmgren personally scouted the Sharks) How does a Philly reporter know that unless it was told to them? The Philly reporter is not even saying it's a rumor or "inside sources" are telling him about Burns, he's say Flyers brass wanted a closer look at Brent Burns, as in, he's saying it as fact.

Well, that is, if Burns actually can play defense. He's spent the last eight games since returning from injury playing at first-line right wing with Joe Thornton. It's not exactly a foreign position for Burns, who played forward for a bit in the AHL under coach Todd McLellan, and also skated alongside Jeff Carter and Ryan Getzlaf in the 2004 World Juniors for Canada.

It makes sense that the Sharks would be interested in moving the 6-5 Burns, who has a $5.76 million cap hit, and has been an unmitigated disaster on defense since arriving. San Jose's Eastern Conference scout, Jason Rowe, attended Tuesday's game against New York.

Maybe the Flyers view Burns as a reclamation project, even though they really need a surer hand. Burns has all the tools - size, shot, skating and personality - but he hasn't been able to hone his hockey sense. The Wild has been better without Burns, and play in the defensive zone has been a whole lot less chaotic.

Clearly, Holmgren is perusing the market. Whether he adds before next Wednesday's trade deadline or in the offseason, the blue line will be the major target. It's just a matter of who and when.

Yeah, this article is extremely intelligent.

Burns has been great on defense. He defends like Duncan Keith, has the speed to cover his own mistakes.

He's not a ****ing reclamation project, he's the Sharks' best player.

And the Wild are better without Burns probably, OH JEEZ, because they signed ****ing Suter and Parise and have Brodin.

Like I said, mindless drivel. It couldn't be clearer that whoever wrote this article has never seen Burns play a minute of hockey in his life.

Seravelli sees him as a perfect fit for a Philly reclamation project.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but does he seriously see Burns as a Reclamation project? Maybe he was talking about Gomez.

Yeah a guy who can play on the top line or top d pair is a reclamation project  it seems other fans and writers seem a little jealous they don't have someone as unique as Burns. The Wild did but played a more defensive system than SJ.

Just read that Clowe has a NTC, I had no idea. Lebrun makes it sound like there are lots of teams interested in Clowe. As of now the asking price is still a 1st and a young asset.
