No sense in trying to make something out of nothing. I think its pretty clear by now that Galiardi is not going to be much help to this team.

I don't think it's that clear yet, he hasn't gotten consistent playing time in forever.

Do you think he would be more tradable if DW re-signed him to a 2 year 2.5 M AAV deal? Or even a similar 1 year 3 M AAV extension. Or do you think that would hurt his value more?

I think that DW would be very unwise to trade a player he had just re-signed...

I would also say that in this market, a contract might hurt his value. Team's want flexibility more than ever.

Yes. hes just not a strong enough two way guy to be on a 3rd line. A one year deal i'd be lukewarm on even.

Your third line has to be able to provide a scoring threat, but in the same game take shifts and succeed against other teams top lines. Which is why pavs is such a good fit there, but whatever.

I think they should keep Sheppard, he is showing improvement and I think he's been pretty solid. Worthy of an extension.

Galiardi I'm pretty meh about. Keeping him around for cheap is fine but I have no complaints if he isn't retained. (Other than the trade debocle)

Gomez I'm unsure about. He has skills but I don't know if he fufills the teams needs. I dunno, if he comes cheap again I don't see too big a problem with it.

Ya that would be good. I think pavs centering shep and someone else could be a real good 3rd line.

Clearly Pav's is not ever going to center the third line again, and there is probably a pretty good reason. So no point in discussing it. Of all the line juggling they've done, Pav's on the 3rd line hasn't been one.

It's funny because only Scott Gomez and wingels have more points in the bottom six than galiardi, with six less games (ie: no consistent run, no top six time, fourth line minutes). I'm not ready to give up on him. Would like to see a consistent third line with him in it.

His underlying numbers aren't great, but he's due to trend upward IMO, and I hope he stays in the line up and on the third line. If sheppard or wingels show they have a center in them is love to see
Wingels- shep-gali for a few games.

Agree. I would like to see Gomez back for another season or two. Personally I thought hes done OK with what hes had to work with (3rd/4th line).

Agree, but I like to use his player type as a reference as to what we are missing there.
Maybe shep could step up, would be nice to see honestly. I'm also surprised at all the juggling that hasn't seem galiardi in the top six.

Yah, I think Shep can make a solid 3rd line center with better linemates. Wingels is probably ok if he can start putting the puck in the net a bit more, but other than that he's a good right wing. It's the left wing that's the issue, we need someone with a solid shot over there. Galiardi hasn't show that at all really. Eager would have been good if he didn't have a screw loose.

I can't see them dropping shep yet either. His first year playing again, and you can clearly see his potential. I'd see if he was down for one or two more years on a friendly contact to see what he really can bring to the table and he certainly is good enough to play in our bottom six.

I agree with you both. I as well would like to see D. W. get Shep. on a low cost 2 - 3 year deal and at the same time, if for similar dollars to presently, Gomez on another 1 year deal. Same for Desi., a 1 year deal at minimal dollars.

More importantly, don't know what is taking him in getting Demers and Irwin locked in.

I am ready to have DW get desi on a multi year deal. They guy is proving to be a solid, gritty 4th liner that can throw big hits and drop the gloves.

Oh for sure, I totally agree a multi would also be good with Desi at low dollars. Very solid in his 4th line role, even when stuck with Burish and Zus. (boy, if we could just rid ourselves of those two).

I think it's unfair to judge goal totals on this team. He's technically top ten on the team in goals, and only 5 behind pavelski. Team scoring is just way down. Revolving door of line mates and a lack of strong two way presence next to him have both contributed.

That being said, he could be more dangerous offensively, he lacks the confidence to really go for it at times, probably a product of "play it safe" bs.

I think Galiardi-Sheppard-Wingels would make a solid third line but they'd need to develop. They still have untapped potential, they need some experience, and they need time to gel and manufacture some chemistry. That doesn't happen if you keep juggling guys and scratching players frequently.

yah, they didn't even offer him a contract as I recall. They certainly are not going to trade assets for him when they didn't want him for free.

I think Galiardi, and the rest of the Sharks, need a coach who can light a fire under their *****. Tell Galiardi to go out and legally try to piss off the other team. We know it's possible, especially looking back at our series in the playoffs years back. I hated him during that series because he was an effective pest and player. With a new system/coach maybe he could get back, and I'm not sure any Sharks fan thinks that the Sharks couldn't play with a bit more fire.
