Calgary owes it to Iginla to find a new home for him (if he wants another shot at the Cup), the Flames are going to be a rebuilding team for the next few seasons.

Freddie Meyer.  :handclap: :handclap: ;)

I can do a pretty good Howie Rose. I constantly entertain friends with a Howie Rose commentary on Freddie Meyer. Including my friends 14 year old brother who doesn't really remember when he played. One time I impersonated Howie while doing a Devils/Islanders game, talking about how Freddy Meyer was on the ice for 15 minutes in the 1st period. Capuano had him out there everytime Kovy, and Eeliash(In Howie talk) went on the ice, and for the PP's, and PK's. Then the 2nd period came and he fainted on the ice from playing too much.

I know Capuano wasn't the coach when he was there, but I was making out like he still plays there. I just remember Howie going crazy over him. That's why I've made a joke out of him!

To reach the cap floor next year?:laugh:

I figure they would reach further into the abyss to do that. I mean, they have to one up themselves again somehow, right?

Exactly!!! The ghost of Tim Thomas can only get you so far

Does anyone realistically think Iginola would waive is NMC and come to Jersey or anywhere out East for that matter?

I'm torn on whether or not I see him waiving his NMC (at all, not talking about to specific destinations yet). If he was going to waive it though, I could see WHY nj would be one of the destinations. He's been in the league long enough to know how some people feel about NJ, the organization itself and its commitment to winning. I'm sure he knows Brodeur, if from nothing else than playing together for Team Canada on what I assume is multiple occasions. And with the veteran presence on the team, assuming they're not too far "out of it" or away from the top of the conference, I could see him accepting a move here. This has nothing to do with whether or not the Devils have enough to get Calgary to agree to a deal however.

For what its worth, I could probably also see him going to Pittsburgh or Montreal. For whatever reason I just can't see him being anywhere in the west but Calgary. Don't think they would trade him in conference.

I could see him doing an Olli Jokinen, and re signing with Calgary in the off season.

Well Feaster doesn't really understand what rebuilding means up there, and they beat the Wings tonight so he might not think it is needed either. Entirely possible he isn't traded.

Calgary beat down Detroit with 5 goals on 22 shots. And how did I guess that Jimmy Howard wasn't in net for this one? Of course it was Jonas Gustavsson!

I think right now one of the devils players with high trade value right now is bernier. I wouldn't want to see him go, He is showing he is able to hold his own on a 2nd or 3rd line and be able to produce. I don't really know any teams interested but he could be packaged out of they do make a trade.

Why would we trade away a roster player?

Why would we trade away a roster player?

Maybe because teams will be looking for something in way of NHL ready players.

And I wonder what these teams will want for these UFA's to be.

I know I don't want to give up a ton for a rental.

I've been hearing sign and trade. Is that new to the CBA cause I don't ever really remember that in hockey.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Loki/Poni were the 2 moves Lou makes this year.

Loki is becoming the player that Kovy can fly up and down the ice with & Poni (once Zubrus is back) can rock with the 3rd / 4th Line giving us some size / skill down there.

Clearly having 8 D-Men is beginning to pay off. Also with Zubrus coming back from injury that's kind of like making a move as well. Matteau, Barch, Tom K are all 3 good guys to cycle in and out to give people a rest.

Is everyone talking about the same Zubrus that I remember? He's a good piece but I am not sure he will be the salvation to our top LW issues.

Streit is basically Zids, don't need both. We won't get a real upgrade on defence unless someone like Henrique is getting traded. Don't get fooled by the slump, it's a solid, consistent and deep defensive corps we've got there.

For the other trade, I don't know whether Calamari (sp) might fit Pistol Pete's system....

streit is better than zids, defensively at least and arguably on offense. hes taken a step back but is still a great asset, responsible, productive and an improvement over half of what we have back there. plus, having streit and zids manning the point on the pp would allow kovy to be where he should be. however, this makes sense so it wont happen. and even if we did somehow get streit....deebo wouldnt play him where he should be, for one timers that is. ahh whatever. im already mad enough at deebos pp logic as it is.

I agree. He's a great guy to have in the lineup and a good piece, but when we were in the midst of the 0-6 run I saw a ton of Zubrus needs to save us type posts.
