Big Richards fan, was before they got him, and always loved his game.

I think you guys are right however. Even if this guy lights it up the rest of the year, it only makes sense to buy him out, and either try to re-sign him or find another center.

There is really no one else the money is tied up in unnecessarily that isn't going to be UFA shortly, or isn't going anywhere. (Hank, Gabby, Nash...)

Would anyone be interested in Alex Goligoski? I know he is paid 4.6 until 2016, been a decent 2nd pairing guy. Offensive dman. May play well with the countless defensive dmen the Rangers have.

Not even a little bit, from my end.

Unless you are putting up 50+ points, a defenseman in a Tortorella system should not be payed over 4 million a year.

I'll take him for a 2nd Round Pick.

Similar value to Zidlicky I assume.

Goligoski? You can't trade for him without giving some salary back. That salary is where McD's $ for next summer should be coming from.

I don't expect Girardi or Staal to be renewed at the end of their contracts.

Pretty much my sentiments in the bad team thread.

They are not guarantees, and neither is Callahan. If I remember correctly, he took less years and the quicker FA route.

Nobody is a guarantee but I'll be real, real surprised if 2/3 of those guys don't end up back here.

I think 1/3 is realistic. I can see that one being Girardi.

Staal and Callahan on the open market? Heh.

This team has never had trouble finding ways to get players on the open market. Callahan is the heart of the team, the captain of the team, and has been here his whole career. At this point, he's by far the most well-rounded player on the roster as well. Unless he absolutely wants to leave, and I can't imagine why he would, they'll find a way to resign him at the expense of pretty much anyone else save 3 or 4 players.

Im just worried about being outbid. Not really questioning his intentions. The figures didnt work on a longer deal when it was done.

The Devils thought Parise was a sure thing and he went home. (A move I thought was obvious)

Or maybe it was the Rangers who didn't want to give him a longer deal. Which would equal a higher cap hit.

Parise's departure from the swamp was clear as day from the moment he signed that 1 year deal.

We'll see wont we?

Still think we are going 1/3, of which either Callahan or Girardi.
