You're all really letting me down here. I keep refreshing at work for one of you to post the tweets saying that we acquired a goalie and defenseman and a forward. Let's say Rantanen? Be better!!! Get on that!!!
Gotta lower your expectations. It’ll be Dumoulin in and one of the guys on waivers right now.

29-3 with slightly below average goaltending. That's an eye opener if I've ever seen one.
I've been okish with Skinner the last few seasons thinking he's acceptable enough to backstop an elite team to a Cup but there's no defending him this season and those stats (although save pct. isn't the end all be all) point to him being a primary issue. I still maintain that team issues extend way beyond just goaltending but there's also something to be said for terrible goaltending deflating the team and making them play a "different" way and that might very well be what we've been seeing the last month as the team has abandoned any type of system play.

That isn't what that means. It means we are 29-3-2 when we have .900 or better tending. The average for those 34 games is quite likely significantly higher than the league average of .901. The point is that the "cutoff point" at which the Oilers have a very good record is about the league average. I suspect this is the case for most teams in fact, just due to the maths, but it is likely a bit exaggerated with the higher scoring teams (as the Oilers are).

Kovacevic would be perfect. Him and Seigenthalar have been one of the best defensive pairs in the NHL this year.
He aldo leads the Devils in SH TOI.
I was going to ask why would they even trade him then, but with Casey and Nemec coming up, Hughes needing a new deal, and Kovacevic being a UFA, I can actually see the rationale with Jack out.

I think we would have to pay through the nose though. I can't see them just selling off for a late pick, may as well keep him and push for the playoffs without Jack to get their guys some experience if that's all they get.

Him and Allen for a 1st+?

I like Skinner and have defended him in the pass. He was thrown into the number one job and hasn't lived up to it. He is also slow to react to cross ice passes. I think he needs to lose some weight and have someone like Gibson would take the pressure off of him. With Gibson injury issue Skinner would get quite a few starts and being the back up will give him a different mind set.

Kovacevic would a heck of a pick up. Only 27 as well. I would pay a 1st just for him alone.

Imagine thinking it’s some sort of nonsense “turnovers infestation the room” over our f***ing shit goalies aka one who allowed 4 goals on 0.58 expected goals. Shut the f*** up, Gregor.

"The only time they win is when their goalie is playing unreal"
Uhhhhhh, they're 29-3 when the goalies play simply average to above average.
He's not wrong about this recent stretch of the team playing terribly and not being all on the goalies but he doesn't realize when fans talk about the need for goaltending that they're talking about the much larger sample size of the entire season. The goalies were well below average even when the Oilers were one of the best teams in the league, how many times did the Oilers have to overcome almost being goalied in a lot of the wins? How he's ignoring that is beyond me, bordering on complete delusion.

This should be interesting, I wonder where he ends up. My guess is the Kings, but my surprise guess is the Jackets.

I'm sure, but seems like the simplest way to create space for yourself ahead of the deadline, plus none of these guys are irreplaceable.
We have a game today, we can't put Pickard on waivers, and the org LOVES Janmark so he won't be either.

So far all hes proved since the trade to carolina is that he needs a star player to play with and that he doesn't drive his own line. So yes, kings, please get him and watch him play worse than he has in Carolina. All while giving up assets and a roster player or two, a Rantanen trade to a team like LA makes them worse off.

If the florida rumours are true, its game over though.

Yeah he and Barkov will make a dangerous duo.

Carolina isn't going to trade Rantanen to Florida just so Florida can take them out in the playoffs lol
the plus side is the Canes would need an actual return and not futures for a Rantanen trade and Florida has nothing in the farm and no assets left but roster players to trade. So its unlikely from that stand point because Carolina isn't a selling team.
