Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

I'm not seeing a whole lot of factual evidence. Because Gibson was exactly that four of the past five seasons--a consistently sub-0.900 goaltender.

His game has bounced back this season to respectable levels after Anaheim removed him as the starter.

There's a very good chance that you'd make that expensive trade and Gibson struggles in the same regard if the Oilers' team game continued to struggle.

At least be accurate, he has not been sub .900 consistently at any point. Even in the 4 years under Dallas Eakins with a rebuilding team his save percentage for those four years combined is above .900. What number do you think Stuart Skinner would have playing 4 years under Dallas Eakins with that team? It would be a lot lower.

Gibson's had one really terrible year ... 23-24, and that came after being shelled there for year after year with nothing to play for. He has bounced back from that this year.

The culture of incompetence that made us a perpetual lottery team never went away, regardless of who was the GM and President, it's like a deep state of idiocy rooted within this org.
Shit leopoard can't change its spots. McDavid elevated this team to playoff level but that's as far as it's going to get because he can't cover for the utter incompetence when it comes to drafting and scouting.

This organization is such a big joke compared to other top teams man. In the last calendar year Tampa has gotten Guentzel, Mcdonaugh, Moser, and now they’re getting Gourde and Bjorkstrand. This is not a serious franchise, Bobby Nicks got his retirement contract, Katz got his money from having the best player in the word every night, they’re satisfied.

Not sure why the oilers bother swapping guys in the bottom 9 when they only play 13 mins max anyways. Bermuda Triangle bottom 6 has been a thing for 15 years, might be something to do with how the team utilizes every player to the worst of their abilities.

no, from their best stretch from Nov 7th to February 7th...Skinner had a .908% and Pickard a .906%

league average is .903
That's a bit of a crappy peak though. That league average includes the worst teams, and goalies who have had their own highs and lows. What really matters is total average compared to total average.

So what I mean is that our goalies' high points are not good compared to other goalies' high points

Tampa has won 2 Cups, 3 total in the modern era, and they still want another one more than the Oilers want one.

Moving on from Stamkos took serious balls too.

Says a lot. Ditto for Florida, not satisfied after winning it all last year.

Shouldn't even use teams not in a playoff spot becuase really there is no applicable frame of reference there for the Oilers. You should use the average of teams competing for a playoff spot and maybe even more specifically top 10 teams.

If we're not aiming to be a top 10 team, then what is even going on here. Our average goaltending should be comparable to those teams. Those are the teams we're hoping to beat is it not?

I just hope now the fans making excuses for this organization like cap space, cold market, dollar in dollar out, players are not free, realize all those media excuses for what they actually are- utter organizational incompetence. We’d be the Sabres if we didn’t luck into Mcdavid.

The Oilers prioritize "loyalty" to an absurd degree. The best orgs in the league don't give a crap about that. The Bolts saw that Stamkos was declining and said "Thanks for your good years of service, see you later".

Meanwhile, we sure love picking up over the hill bums like Duncan Keith, Mike Smith, and the mishmash of crappy depth forwards we have now.

I'm not sure why we traded for Frederick. He's going to get benched/given limited minutes because he's too physical for Knobby
I like Knob, but if he doesn’t adapt his coaching tendencies, his trajectory will become much like WoodShaft, who was another coach that refused to adapt his approach to coaching in the NHL.

And we all know where Jay landed after being canned in Edmonton. He’s still on his journey to personal self fulfillment as far as I know.

According to LT we shouldn’t get any goalies. There’s no Ken Dryden or Dominic Hasek available for free, and we all know only a hall of fame goalie could be an improvement over what we have.

People forget Skinner was there in the finals, sure he blew 3 games but he was there and that means something apparently.

Edit: and oh Stu’s contract is a STEAL. A STEAL. Surely nobody making league min can compare to Stu at 2.75

Come on LT I’m starting to think you’re stupid and that makes me feel stupid for listening for years

Seravalli says we aren't doing anyhting. I think I'll start drinking early today
It was hard to find this post among the many many pages of incessant arguing back and forth about goaltending (can we get this thread back to trades and rumors and create a separate thread for goaltending argument thread?).

Anyway, do you have a link for this? You tend to say things without providing sources and credible links. Sorry to get on you about this but....come on man, help us out here.

I wonder who Vegas and Colorado will add at the deadline too. Think Colorado will try and make a big move at forward.

Winnipeg is clearly the best regular season team in the West this year, but given their playoff meltdowns, a team like Colorado may feel they have a pretty good chance of coming out of the West this season and go for it.

I’ll help you- that’s not what he said. Lol. Someone posted the Zack Laing article a few pages ago with what Servalli actually said
