Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

Absolutely. I also found it interesting that during his interview with Seravalli, Bowman pushed the old line that you need "two teams" to win in the NHL- 1 to get you to the playoffs, and 1 to win in the playoffs.

The last few years, the trend in the NHL playoffs seems to be about having size on the blueline to keep teams to the outside and limit high danger chances against. With Oleksiak, our top 4 would be huge- Nurse (6'3), Bouchard (6'3), Ekholm (6'4), Oleksiak (6'7). The fact that Oleksiak also excels at defending the rush, which is one of our biggest weaknesses, seems to make him a near perfect fit.
It's why I'm extremely high on the player, he ticks alot of boxes, without needing any expectation of him being at #1/2.

I think Trent replaces Savoie. They might have another million in capspace left if they waive Kapanen (could be 1.78 if Stetcher is gone as well). Kane has ruined this deadline folks.
How much would we have accured had we not LTIRd Kane and kept him on IR?

My ideal bottom six would be something like this:

Frederic-RNH-Perry
Janmark-Henrique-Brown

Nuge might actually do something in that role, and we already know what that fourth unit can do in the ploffs. Janmark could sub out for Jones if Knoblauch feels he needs even more heaviness in a game/series.

But that still raises the question of what to do with the mess that is McDrai, Hyman and a pile of crap. If we could get just one real top six winger to pair with Leon I really feel like the rest would fall into place but Frederic looks to be "the" move right now and that's just not enough.

I'd like to see a Frederic-RNH-Savoie third line. I feel like having Frederic in there balances out having the smaller Savoie and gives the kid enough security to take more chances, plus Savoie brings the speed. Not sure if Perry can keep up in the playoffs. He was scratched for games in the Finals for being a step slower.

James Reimer is cooked. He is in no way better than either Stu or Pickard. He'd be a decent option as a #3 if we had to bring one in, but he's not going to supplant what we already have, or improve our situation. The ideal goalie out there is Gibson. Bring him in as #1, keep Stu as #2, and slide Pickard through waivers to bring up if we need to. The only obstacles there of course are cap space, and Verbeek's asking price. Consolation prize is Vejmelka, but I expect he extends, and if he doesn't, I expect we lose him in free agency or have to pay him a boatload to keep him, which is why I have Gibson over him.

I still don't expect a goalie though. Bowman has been public about that, and for some reason, I don't think he is blowing smoke to try to minimize the appearance of desperation that we have.

Reimer is definitely better than Stu right now. Watch how fast Skinner is sent down to the AHL on a team like the Sabres.

Vejmelka is not available. Utah has a chance to make the playoffs. Gibson is probably not available. Anaheim has a chance to make the playoffs.

I think Frederic honestly might get moved right into the top 6 like Patrick Maroon did.

Frederic McDavid Hyman
RNH Draisaitl Skinner (?)
Podkolzin Henrique Arvidsson
Kapanen Janmark Perry
Brown

Go get John Gibson, Stan, dump Evander Kane.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Kane gets moved. Although I’d find it intriguing having both him and Frederic on the same team. Shit disturbers that make it hard for the opponents. I’d rather move Arvidsson over Kane, personally.
Or its been proven he's staying on LTIR

If Kane gets moved it's cause we are adding a player like Rakell otherwise Oilers are buttery soft. Shooting from the perimeter and not going to the dirty area soft all playoffs. This along with Stuart type goaltending is recipe for 1st round exit

Reimer sucks. He's done. He is worse than Pickard and Skinner, and there's no way you could convince me otherwise. The Ducks are 6 points out and they have to jump 5 teams. They aren't making the playoffs. The Utah's are close, and they're likely extending Vejmelka, so I agree that he's likely not available.

I'd be surprised if Kane was moved, only because I can't see any teams out there taking him on with his 1) age, 2) injuries, 3) cap hit and 4) controversial history of disrupting locker rooms.

Arvidsson's sole remaining value is his playoff success, but I don't think he's worth the gamble from what we've seen this season. He's small, older, injury-prone, overpaid, and pissing away valuable minutes next to the probable Richard winner and possible Ross winner in Drai. Connor Murphy makes about what Arvidsson does, and Arvidsson is paid a million more than Brian Dumoulin...who I read is playing about 20 plus minutes per game during Anaheim's recent heater, but who they might want to swap out with younger guys.

Can't imagine Arvidsson would accept a trade to Chicago though. He would really have to be desperate to get out of town for that to happen.

Like I said, see how long Skinner lasts in the NHL on a team like the Sabres. And Reimer has been in the league for well over a decade without playing an AHL game, where as Pickard has spent entire seasons mid-career in the AHL. Reimer's GSAx is way better than either of those guys, granted with a smaller sample size, but he's doing far, far...far better than either Pickard or Skinner were doing at their 12-game mark, behind a vastly inferior defense.

Again, give me Soderblom or Merilainen, or Anton Forsberg, and definitely John Gibson if you can, but Reimer is still better than the status quo, and that should concern you because it sure f***ing concerns me.

And I'm not sure if Chicago would even take him if he did accept that move. I mean not producing with Draisaitl is a bad, bad look, and Chicago is probably thinking if he can't produce with Drai how likely is he to produce with Bedard...

I don't get posts like these. What did they give up exactly? A mid 2nd round pick is the biggest asset given up. This is what you get for 2nd rounders, 3rd line player. Hell, Holland gave up a legit prospect+3rd for an aging #4C. That's a huge overpay.
I liked Wanner but he seems to have regressed and he was a project to begin with. Lachance I had time for too but he had to want to sign and also his skating is going to hold him back significantly.

The second seems right in terms of price for Frederic and Hauser sounds like an interesting replacement prospect.
