Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

I was listening to CHED yesterday and they said part of any trade call involves discussing whether or not there is enough cap room to make the trade considering all possibilities.

In other words, if there was even a chance Kane would be off LTIR before the playoffs and the trade puts them over the cap considering that chance, the trade wouldn’t go through.

So tl; dr: the retention was necessary.

Well, the deadline is 3 days away lol. I mean, when are they getting clarity on this? Deadline day? It's just insanity that they're now 3 days out and they have no idea if they'll have $5m in cap space or none, how can they even negotiate a trade (which takes days/weeks) without knowing if they'll have cap space or not.
Absolutely mind boggling and incompetence of the highest order. I bet even Chia would have figured this out by now and, yeah, probably trade Savoie for Frederic but that's another story haha

Are you literally Chiarelli? Savoie for Frederic by Chia sounds far too real.

Wouldn't that be fine pairing for Nurse? Someone who is just a stay at home dman? We need someone like that. And it slides Klingberg down.

Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - Carlo
Kulak - Klingberg/Emberson

Someone that can skate, play sound defence and move the puck themselves.

Kulak's by far the best fit there, while Klingberg and Emberson have just been okay, as they lack what the other brings. Klingberg's defence is rough, though he's been great once the Oil get the puck; Emberson's generally in the good positon, but panics when he has to make plays with the puck.

Stecher, despite his size, is likely the next best all-round fit with Nurse. Though I wouldn't bet against Emberson looking more comfortable the more he plays there, or Klingberg continuing to get his feet under him.

If you took a step back to when he signed, and I said Klingberg would have a statline of 1-3-4 with a +3 in 9 games, averaging 17:15 with zero PP time, I think everyone would call that a good first step, and would want to see how he looks in the following 10 games.

I kinda expect them to extend him shortly, NMC at all lol.

I like the idea of Mike Matheson playing there.
Is Montreal selling though? They're on a 5 game winning streak, 1 point out of a playoff spot, and just re-signed Evans. Part of the reason this years pot of players sucks is that the east has been a total joke, and 14/16 teams think they're still in it.

What do you like about Oleksiak. He is a left side left shot #5 d. He isn’t an upgrade on any of our left d.
He can play both sides and has played on the 2nd pair a lot, and has done so well with a good partner in the past. He's sound defensively, which we can use, and his size and physicality would be a benefit, and would help our penalty kill. All things that we could use improvement on. And his cap hit is reasonable for what he brings. He's only recently been shifted to Seattle's 3rd pair, and I think that has more to do with the Kraken wanting to use Ryker Evans with Montour, rather than being an actual demotion based on his play. Plus, I think a pair of Nurse and Olekskiak would be incredibly difficult to play against with their size, physicality, and each player's reach. He's also a good skater for a big guy, which helps. I think he would be a great addition, I'm just not sure if Seattle is ready to move him, and if they are, if the cost would be reasonable.

Couldn't tell you, but the other reason they move him is because Lane Hudson will fill his offensive role on the team.

I don’t watch a ton of Seattle but from what I am looking at analytically he gives up goals at the fastest rate, outside of Borgen and his xGA numbers aren’t kind either. Is he seeing super tough matchups?
