I keep thinking about Kane and the different playoff teams with cap space, and he comes for basically free, I wonder if there's a deal here with the Bolts.

To TB: Kane ($1.25M retained)

To EDM: Atkinsen & SJ's 2025 7th.

Bolts get Kane at $4M on the cap (they can put him put him on LTIR if need be) and the Oilers take back the guy they just waived and a 7th is nothing.

Those are realistic guesses for blueliners. I'm still hoping for Jamie Oleksiak.

I only think Byram is a realistic option if the team isn't sold 100% on keeping Bouchard long term. That would make things interesting, but I don't really expect Byram is on our radar. Carlo or Oleksiak would be ideal for me. Dumoulin next, then Murphy.

I don't think he's a top 4 dman, imo. Zero ability to move the puck and handle any pressure, but he would be physical out there

Byram is who I want. Ekholm is slowing down and you need a replacement. Ideally, Broberg would have been it. Byram wants to be a number 1 man- he can be that here.

This is Carlo's second down year in a row though which is a bit concerning. Doesn't seem like a great stylistic fit with Nurse either.

Honestly, I think Nurse can be that guy beside Bouch. But agreed, we could really use another up and coming D to play top 4.

What do you like about Oleksiak. He is a left side left shot #5 d. He isn’t an upgrade on any of our left d.

I'm fine with this trade. Frederic should be perfect for our 3rd line when he comes back. People thinking that he's going to play on the 2nd line regularly are out to lunch.

I would also think that the Bruins gave Bowman a time line for Frederic's recovery and that there's a fair chance he will be ready to play by the playoffs.

This narrative needs to stop. Nurse doesn’t do well with stay at home d men- he needs a puck mover. His game is significantly better if he plays with someone who can retrieve pucks and outlet them
