Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

I suspect that the savings for non-stars are pretty minimal compared with the consequences of the clause. I understand why players want them, especially older guys. But with Salary guarantees they already have a fair bit of security. Ironically, it is the cutthroat teams like Vegas that geta way without them. Eichel, Stone, AP and Hertl are the only Knights with NMC's and Hertl's NMC turns into a NMC M-NTC next year.
Look at a guy like Janmark. Makes 1.5 and has a NMC for this year and next. Has one goal this year.

Yes he is a decent bottom 6, but that contract is ridiculous.

We got more things to worry about than a player making 1.5M who's likely going to elevate their game come playoffs time.

Zito here making video games trades. Getting Chicago to retain 2.4M for 6 years. And the best Bowman is trying to acquire is bottom 6 players and bottom pairing Ds
While I agree he only has three years left after this season. Chicago is a mess taking away veterans is the last thing they should be doing to bedard.

Who only has 3 years left? Seth Jones? He has 5 years left after this season.

Chicago going to go for a big fish this UFA

That is true, but cmon teams help out other teams with sweeteners. We can give the Hawks something in the offseason.

Our management might be bad, but they aren't this inept.

There is something bigger going on here................
There is nothing bigger going on and this is what you refuse to accept. Kane wants to play early and doesnt want to risk losing his roster spot/minutes by not being in the lineup until playoffs start.

Kane is selfish, he's always been about himself, and he's already worn out his welcome with every team he's played in. Look at all of hte weird shit he pulled in the media the last year, complaining about minutes, throwing team under the bus when he got scratched, his effort and demeanor on the ice all season when he lost his top 6 minutes and clearly wasn't trying or playing hard at all for the majority of it. There is nothing more than an arrogant player deciding he doesn't care if he f***s the team's TDL plans over because to hell with them I don't want them to get better and then I lose my spot in the lineup.

I don’t understand the Oilers thought process here. I get we’re not Vegas but there is no way we still need to offer every player and their Dog NMCs to come / stay here. It’s like the Oilers don’t think it’s a big deal and throw one in like a couple of free oil changes at a car dealership.

I think he’s already worried about his next contract. He doesn’t want to lose his minutes and spot on the roster. Doesn’t want a slow start to the playoffs.

1. You don't know this
2. Trade him
3. Waive him
4. scratch him in the playoffs

You have such a basic negative take its numbing

Agreed, but what we do have to worry about is that we need to improve our offence. We need more goals.

The answer isn't "everyone needs to step up, Nuge got 100 points in the past"

The Oilers are incredibly obsessed with maintaining a player friendly reputation. To a fault.

It's a violent reaction to the era of 10-15 years ago where no NHL player worth anything would even consider looking in the organization's general direction.

Makes sense, I assume the Oilers are calling, but you know.

A great guy in the dressing room..

I actually wonder about Kane and the Panthers. The Panthers are down some assets from the last couple of years, and Kane is a rugged, scoring forward who would basically come for free, I wonder if they would have interest here? Maybe the Oilers can even retain to facilitate it? Is Kane more attractive at $4M on the cap or even $3.5M?

Something does not smell right with this Kane situation. He is not the kind of guy willing to screw over his teammates.

You can also waive him/threaten to waive him? I'm sure the Hawks would love him.
How is he screwing over his teammates? He wants to play because he is healthy now. Why should he wait till playoffs and come in rusty?

Frank Seravalli says the Oilers have interest in Brandon Carlo. He says they do want a difference maker at the deadline but they have to deal with this Kane situation first
Well, the deadline is 3 days away lol. I mean, when are they getting clarity on this? Deadline day? It's just insanity that they're now 3 days out and they have no idea if they'll have $5m in cap space or none, how can they even negotiate a trade (which takes days/weeks) without knowing if they'll have cap space or not.
Absolutely mind boggling and incompetence of the highest order. I bet even Chia would have figured this out by now and, yeah, probably trade Savoie for Frederic but that's another story haha
